did anyone see it?

Melbourne based company that uses a Dyno with steering sensor to create a "virtual reality" simulator.

The dyno measures the speed and braking, the specially built steering laser measures your wheel and it looks fkn awesome.

I reckon if they created a Bathurst simulation to go with it they'd be laughing, imagine racing in your car around bathurst as fast as you can go?

For instance they had a GT Falcon and CV8 Monaro doing speeds of 220 kph + on the simulator. Plus it can tell you your fastest speed, approximate power (it is a dyno afterall)

Looks cool!!!! I wanna go!!!!!!!

Drag Tag isn't one of the most popular places with the FF lads.

Drag tag is located in camblefeild, I have spoken to several guys that have used the facilities, they report times are fairly close to actual , but like a G tech they are a little happy.
It also works out to be fairly costly.3
I have seen how they mount the locating bracket to a IRS commodore, and I don't think it was real good, they just drill some self drilling screws into the lower control arms

How the hell could you steer a FWD car while on a Dyno ???

Thats my view on it. It would probably be cheaper to just goto the strip?

Quote "How the hell could you steer a FWD car while on a Dyno ???"

Because they use lazers (100 times a sec) to measure the steering angles it will work on Front and AWD cars . its even taken into account the writing on the side walls of the tyres to not effect the steering.

Quote "It does look very cool... however in the drag mode they didn't mention whether they allowed for weather correction using atmospheric data to validate the 1/4 mile times. "

Its a driving simulator and they are not trying to be the same a calder drag strip, the times very close to real drag strip time but just like calder to heathcote, where calder you get faster times than heathcote .. maybe calder is shorter than 1/4 mile ???

after reading that thread (saw it a week or so ago) I'd suggest it would be a brave or foolhardy person who puts their car in Drag Tag's hand

I couldnt work out how cooling works.

When you put a car on a dyno you have a massive fan at the front blowing cool air into the front of your car, umm where those things, err air intakes are.

BUT drag tag didnt have anything at the front of the car, apart from the screen - is it relying on your cars cooling system to keep the Gen III or LS2 cool while your redlining for however long? Now thats a bit of a worry.

I think its a good idea for driver education, especially at the very first stages, familiarise yourself with YOUR car on a fictional street so if you do muck up your cars uninjured.

But i didnt realise it had already been talked about on the forum

I can say there are lots of cooling fans for the car to keep cool.
There are 2 large fans infront of the car and 2 under the dyno's in a 8ft pit facing under the car to push the air through.

i reckon the way they tied the cars down was a good idea, good for a dyno day, tied and untied in seconds.

other then that drag tag=
