My friendly holden dealer who attended the unveiling in Perth earlier this week was raving about the Captiva. He reckons it will sell well for the $$$.
Don't know about specs etc though, too busy dribbling to him about VE ... :whip:

the epica is quite a good car for what it is and the captiva IMO isnt that good but the captiva MAXX is something special.
that car is great, i was in one last night at the holden dealer staff roadshow.

I only have the preliminary technicals on Epica. I must say, the 2.5 straight-six makes only 115kW / 240Nm... Surely Holden must be readying the 3.2 Alloytec (~165kW) for it otherwise it will be slaughtered by Sonata and the like.

Yes the 3.2L V6 will go in there. As Australia is one of the only markets that would also welcome a 3.6L version as well they've obviously decided against it, thats a shame.

oh ok... I wondered why there was such a delay in getting Epica here... wasn't it released over 6 months ago?? FunkyPig: thanks for the confirmation.

Actually I just realised you were talking about the Epica... I meant the V6 will go into the Captiva. I have no idea about the Epica, and I agree that they should put the 3.2L in there! Sorry about the mix up.

YES THE 3.2l v6 is the only engine that nz and oz are getting in the captiva + the diesel engine which is very good from the info ive read

That's the Daewoo XS6 in-line six, isn't it? IIRC, that engine dates back to the late 1990s and pretty well hasn't been touched since, so no surprise that it's a bit behind the times. Would have thought it would make more sense to bring it to market with the 2.8 litre Alloytec if anything.

Is the Captiva MAXX a Captiva, or is it based on the smaller Opel Antara as previously rumoured?
http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=662210&postcount=60
If it is based on the Antara, will it only be available with 5 seats or will there be a 7 seat option? And will it be the 3 and/or 5 door version?
The Antara GTC looks like a work of art!

Captiva Maxx is pretty much a rebadged Opel Antara.

Entry-level Captiva SX and the Captiva Maxx range will have 5 seats; and 7 seats standard on Captiva CX and LX.

Unless the Captiva can produce good fuel economy figures, its gonna have tough battle with its fellow competitors, the Hyundai Santa Fe is releasing a 2.2lt turbo diesel September that can get more that 1200klms per tank:shock:

I did an on line survey the other day on small / mid SUV and the captiva diesel 4 looked good for price and running costs.
Looked like the survey was for Ford as there was lots of questions about what size diesel would I like to see in a Territory.

I realise the MAXX is a rebadged ANTARA, and probably is %200 up in the build quality department over the other captivas,...but judging from that spec sheet, i dont think anyone will pay any extra for it over an LX. if anything its specc'd DOWN from an LX...even the power difference is a wank
mmm 32 page brochure would be great. might have to chase up the dealer

Holden seem like to be taking a female approach (never state your age or weight) with these new brochures (Commodore and Captiva).
Captiva has no performance info or weights in that summary brochure at all...
I also miss the point of the Maxx which in my eyes doesn't look as good as the other models. The wheels certainly don't look any better. It may have underseat storage but my missus wouldn't approve of getting something without a passenger size vanity mirror !!! Bound to be harder (and more expensive) to get parts for it further down the track. Perhaps the interior will be much nicer ? Have to wait and see...

Is there any indication that the Captiva will be released in Aus with a diesel engine?
And does anyone have pricing for the Captiva?

Those prices are really competitive and should see good sales results hopefully.
Im right its price very similar to those of hyundai...so it should be interesting to she whether the captiva actually eats into terry sales.

It may be cheap(ish) - but will need to be if the interior is like this (which it probably is...) - Hardly stylish like a new Commodore is it ? - Very Korean...

its on my watch list because its either going to kill or keep the Adventra, I get this feeling its going to kill it though because of peoples perceptions that bigger is better.
An Adventra shites all over a Territory when you look under the body shell BUT the Terry sells because it looks good, and with advertising where it makes out that its the most comfortable rig ... I mean c'mon you serious comparing a Terry to a Land Cruiser? Its obvious captiva is in the range so Holden can offer an AWD that looks big opposed to an AWD that looks like a Commodore station wagon.
Still tho from a towing point of view "Torque On Demand". So its still a front wheel drive until it senses the rear wheels slipping. ESP, TC and all the other goodies from the Adventra will definately help although 125kw 3.2litre V6?
It will kill with sales, looks big, good fuel economy, unfortunately I think its bye bye to Adventra

Yep, the Adventra was a stopgap for Holden until they could get some product like this (that has a good margin in it !). The old Barina and Astra were much better cars than the new Barina and Viva ever will be but the new ones sell better only because they are cheaper. My missus is now in a new VW Jetta because there is no new Astra sedan so I suppose it is only people like me that are concerned about safety that won't follow the changes the way that Holden want us to.
I would love a VE Adventra (and even more so if it had a turbo diesel) but it is very doubtful I will be buying a Captiva even if it does have 7 seats...
It just isn't doing it for me...

I know the MaXX is based a rebaged Antara but i've just had a look through the brochure and the LX is better equipped then the MaXX, 7 seats vs 5 seats, yet is cheaper then the MaXX?
Not quite understanding how Holden are pricing it :weirdo:

Doesn't seem to make any sense at all apart from exclusivity and the owner knowing he had been ripped off ! :stick:
There just seems no point whatsoever having the Maxx as it will just confuse people plus add to parts and inventory problems. Maybe when someone gets a chance to read the Holden Dealer Info, we will find out how they are supposed to get people to buy the "top model" when it doesn't appear to be ?
Anyone got the full brochure pdf yet ?
