Hey everyone, I am looking at getting new rims for the Monaro. Just wondering if anyone here has heard of or used DTM wheels before. Seems like they make a lot of wheels for Commodores etc. Here is a pic of the alloy wheel I am looking at: http://www.dtm.com.au/Wheels/images/DTM-C-4_png.jpg

Tell me what ya think, the rims are made in thailand which makes me a bit concerned about balance issues ADR ratings etc.. how does this work with rims, are they going to be legal to use???
cheers

I bought a set of 18x8 DTM 149s (Keizzers) a few years back.
Can't comment on the legality, but I'm very happy with them.
The shadow chrome finish has lasted well.

Tez, don't worry about the Thailand thing - many of the OE ones come from the same factory

I thought you were looking for some HSV 19s? These ones are just Coupe 4 knock-offs. I reckon they look pretty average.
There is a guy on the Street Commodore Forum selling some 19" Senator Sigs with tyres for about $2700 I think. Pretty good value.
Cheers

Those GTS rims on ebay arn't real though and most rip off's rims have balance issues etc from what i have been told :p
Yeah for around $560 I am all done, just swap over the rubber from the Monaro rims and I am set :D hehe...

Yeah that's what I thought as well. I don't mind them though - they suit a Monaro but that's probably only because the Coup 4 has the similar style and that's all I've seen this style on.
Not sure about the ADR stuff, but to get that kind of info it'd probably be best to speak to your car/registration agency in QLD about that one. I'm in Melb so don't know any numbers to recommend to you.

I don't mind them, Tez, but if you are going to get new rims why not get 19" ones?

LOL yeah thinking of it mate :p just want enough money left over to put a cam in shhhhh ;) yeah otherwise i wouldn't mind spending a bit more and get 19's etc... Might just wait see what happens, might get cam in and then save a bit more to get wheels at a later date :D
Don't mind the look of the wheels, they arn't advertised as coupe 4 copies etc didn't actually know they looked like the coupe 4 wheels before u guys started making note of that :p

They are similar to some of the VE optional 20's. see if you can find a pic of them and compare. IF you like them yourself thats great, but personally Id be shitty if i bought nice original looking rims, only to have people look at them a couple of months later and think 'VE rip-off rims'

i thought those looked familar
If you go cheap on wheels......you have ruined the whole appeal of the car.
Nothing worse than seeing a great car (i.e Monaro) with a set of el cheapo rims...

Yeah true, not sure if these are cheap and nasty looking.. just checked out holden website and they do look like the 20" from HBD range.. Might just save a bit more and get the VY GTS rims or something then :p

Not cheap around $1400 a set trade in from a couple of people I been in contact with... So meh maybe my wholeseller is giving them away for a pretty good price... wait and see :p

Don't let people talk you out of getting them Tez, I'd doubt you'd be able to tell they weren't original unless it had already been mentioned. I was looking at these DTM rims, plus the ones that look like a VZ R8 rims but decided on these:

20" DTM "Grange" and couldn't be happier. If you like the rims and are getting them at a good price go ahead and get them mate, the wheels are quality and I've had no issues.

Damn those rims set the WL off just nicely, good work :)

Whatever you get just make sure you get a warranty. I have one friend who skimped on cheapo Thai wheels and he had to get them redrilled as they were out of round. He thought his girlfriend had hit a gutter! His wheels cost about the same. And he put them on a calais. Not a monaro!!
