maybe he was asking what common problems he should keep an eye for, you may have noticed this if you were able to keep the smartass comments aside for a moment.
eg. ppl normally respond, listen to the motor on cold start up and see if its noisy?
if u dont want to answer no one is twisting your arm behind your back forcing you to, just leave this thread for someone that has an answer!!

You're very touchy vyssbeast !!!!!! What's your prob tonight ??
At least the guy could've put something for us to respond to unless we are all expected to be mind readers.....
I initially replied the same way as Silence replied but then and changed it to what I put....
So why don't you being a mind reader vyssbeast tell the guy all he wants to know..... :teach:

i normally dont mind
but i feel sorry for the guy
hes come onto what everyone knows is an awesome forum just to ask what he should keep an eye out for when he checks out this clubby to make sure he doesnt get a dud ... often the users of this forum are very helpful and give fantastic answers ... other times (most likely coz its 12:30am) some cant be bothered. i was trying to avoid the fella the frustration of coming on tomorow to find his question unanswered.
i do see your point he coulda been a lil more specific with his question though
so ill apologise for the outburst ... my bad lol

all im saying is
if you cant answer his question
just leave this thread for someone else that might be able to help perhaps?

Whoa fella's lol, I see now that I should be a little more specific. I was basically asking if there was anything common that goe's wrong on the clubby's that I need to look for, sorry to cause a bunfight I was just on my way to bed and thought I'd like some input from the guys who actually know and drive the things before going and throwing my money away on something that isn't quite right. Thanks for the constructive responses and sorry to the guys that weren't overly happy with my thread.

Crusty.....inspect and test drive the Clubbie......If the car is to your likeing arrange to have one of the Vic forum sponsors give it the once over before signing the dotted line...leave the NRMA inspections and like to the school teachers and public servants ...Should there be any issues you want resloved by the dealership, insure these are completed before taking delivery of your new found pride and joy……..for after delivery its straight to the back of the queue you will go :teach:

That's very sound advice. Especially if there are any items that you want the dealer to fix, despite your enthusiasm to get your hands on the car, make sure that they are fixed before you take it. Even though you want it so bad, wait. Before you take delivery the dealer will be putting pressure on the service guys to get it fixed as he'll be sweating on your money, but once you've paid....Yawn!...Make a written list and even though they say they've fixed them all, check and test each item before you take delivery of it because otherwise you'll be back and back and back, until you eventually give up in disgust - win to dealer... Good luck and enjoy...

Crusty, where bouts in Nothern Vic are ya?

MAIN ISSUE.
The only main issue I have had is wobbly brakes. After consultation with HSV, this has now been rectified. Apparently, the wrong pads were put in by the dealer. (Common problem Ive been told) A good machining and the right pads and 'hey presto'...no wheel wobble! New pads are friggin dusty though!!!
MINOR ISSUE.
Mine is developing a very occasional diff clunk, but I have been told, a cure is an additive away. Mine has no slap or oil issues.
Minor cosmetic issues of paint peeling on front spoiler. (re painted under warranty).
DRIVER INFLICTED ISSUES.
The mag profile is not friendly to the owners with wives who employ the 'drive by feel' method of reverse parking. Very susceptible to gutter rashes.
PS. Watch steep driveways. The front spoiler is quite low. Run you hand along the underside of the front (and rear) spoiler and you will no doubt find some gouges.
All in all, 87,000kms on, Im happy.
PS. The red colour is worth about 10rwkw.

Hi Crusty
I thought your thread was quite valid if you are not mechanically minded. Overall with a vehicle of fairly recent manufacture you can really only check for driveability, drive train noise, suspension feel and feedback etc.
I hope this helps

My Mechanic rents a room off me so hopefully he can make the trip with me to check it over but yeah I kinda figured the normal driveability feel would be the best check and listening for noises, I've asked for them not to start it prior to me arrive on the day as I'd like to hear it cold start and run for a bit before taking it for a drive. I'd hope that after 3.5 years any issues should have been ironed out anyway :) My main reason for posting was to see if there was anything that people find specific to this model but it doesn't appear that there is which is good. Thanks for the responses guys. I'm hoping that if all goes well I can joing the LS1 club finally in the near future! :burnout:

Crusty - I had problems with my binnacle oil guage - would 'twitch' and not give an accurate reading due to a faulty sensor connection. If it has the premium brakes check for brake squeel at low speed there are simple fixes but it can be a pain to resolve if your not mechanically minded.
Front Bar - As well as checking for scrapes at the bottom i had a problem with the black mesh being loose at the bottom due to a hard scrape when i first got the car - Sometimes you have to learn the hard way...
Markone2's advice to take it to a forum sponsor is a great one it would definately be worthwhile paying a reputable mechanic for an hour or two of his time to find any problems prior to putting down any $$.
Good luck and enjoy the Clubby if you get it!

Thanks mate that's some great info, yes this one has the premium brakes as well as the binnacle oil gauge so will check both of those things, lucky I have my mechanic who rents a room off me so small things can be ironed out easy enough :)

Sorry gotta be a manual, I'm taking the advice of the auto vs manual debates and going with the sporty feel :driving:

I had a manual ls1 before the auto.. couldn't go back again to the manual, but if you don't live in the city the manual is good...
auto is a shocker standard... needs the 3.9's to give it acceleration and a stally to smooth it out...

I'm lucky to live in a place where driving from home at one end of town to work at the other takes around 7 minutes :burnout:
