Whats a good VX Calais worth

I've finally found a car I'm interested in its a 2002 VXII Calais with an LS1 and 60k on the clock, its standard no mods to it at all...
I know the dealer wants far too much for it 25K but I want to know what they are relly worth so when I go down there I want to have a relistic price in mind so I can startt barganing..
Your help is greatly appreciated..

So the trade in price with 60,000km is $14,500, so that is probably what the dealer paid for it. So they have put on $10k, good profit margin hey ?

So the $25k is way over the top.... Good Luck.

From a dealer you say? He wants too much for it. Don't need to look at it. Don't need to know what sort of car it is. Don't even need need to know what sort of car you're interested in.
It all comes down to whether you like the car. If you do like the car, get the NRMA/RACV (or whatever they're called in Sydney) to look at it. Get anybody impartial to look at it.
You will probably end up spending too much on a car anyway. People on this forum usually do :weirdo: . So long as it is a car you :love: and it has been well looked after, who cares?

I picked up a VX Calais LS1 in March with 110 000km, leather, and every service invoice since 40 000km.
The price? $15 800 and that included 11 months rego. That's a lot of car for very little money.
I fail to see how a VX II is worth nearly $10 000 more.

I have a VX2 calais 5.7 with sunroof and some other things. Paid $57000 in 2002, now why would I sell it at $14500 with 40000km on it. the car is worth much more to me than that. I drive my R8 most of the time but ever now and then when I don't want to feel every bump on the road I take it for a drive.

VX Calais are a good buy atm I have seen some going recently for under 15k with LS1 and under 90k on the clock. Thats privte sale too even cheaper if you go to auctions.

I had a VX Calais series 2, with Holden by Design body kit, i tried selling her privately asking $20000, with no bites.
It was immaculate with 86000 kms.
I ended up trading her in on a HSV.
I started looking at a Clubbie, and they offered me $22000 as a trade, with that i bought a Skaife Limited Edition VZ Senator.

You would get more than that for your Calais but the second hand market for LS1's is very depressed at the moment.

I have a 2004 VY II SS M6 with 12,000km on the clock, 19" wheels. A Dealer has offered me $25k for it. Don't think so....might as well keep it for the Mrs to drive...

Good trade in price Scotty, but I suppose it depends on how much they don't discount a $70k plus car when trading yours. At the end of the day it's the changeover price you look at.

Enjoy the Skaife Senator, they are a nice looking car... Maybe I'd get good trade in for my SS on one of them, but don't think any more in Perth....

Well looks like Im not going to buy the car although it is really nice the dealer wouldnt go under 20k for it, althought its nice it aint that nice...
Good thing though now is after 6mths of hard work I've finally convinved the wife that a VZ would be better...

There are plenty of LS1's for sale at the moment so look around, don't rush and you'll find a great car for the $$$$ you want to pay.

Thats why im not too fazed about this car, I tell you being able to say my wife wants this and only wants to pay this price is great.. Basicaly we are buying a calais because thats what she wants (i really want an SS), im not worried because I get the LS1 I want, so keeps her happy and me as well..

Mate I have a VXII Calais with 70km on it and I would do back flips if I could get $20k for it, full leather everything !!!

I reckon about 15k - 19k depending on condition, options, km etc would buy any VX Calais on the road....$25 k he is dreaming !!!

Mate I've changed my mind on the car more then my undies the only thing hasnt changed for a while is it has to be an LS1...
Tell you what I'd take a VX, VY, VZ for the right price anything to get me out of my VS its starting sh@t me.. Everytime i drive it I hear new noises it wasnt making before as long as it holds together until we get rid of it..

I talked to person that works for the same company but a different dealership who was trying to sell me a VZ Calais, when I told about the VX he freaked and said it aint worth more then 17k, I didnt tell him it was in a different yard owned by the company so goes to show me how much over priced it is..

I'd tell him that you like the car, but that based on your research you think it's way overpriced. Then see what he says. If he asks you what price, give a price in the teens and see what happens.
