Well after getting 38000k plus out of my second set of bridgestone S0-3 tyres, i am trying the Yokos out to see what they are like compared to the bridgies. I did order the Advan V 103 yokies but they are going to be a month or so wait. They had the ES 100 in stock so i will get those on tommorrow hopefully. I was impressed with the SO 3s but i found that i had to change the pressures often, to wear the tread evenly. My first set only managed 24000k as i ran them at reccomended pressures & they wore the centres out. the second set i lowered the pressures a little which was fine until i had a couple of weeks with some spirited driving and made the outside on the fronts look like a racing slick. this was when they were just about gone anyway. At least i have now used the entire tread width.
I can say that the avalanche has worn all 4 tyres almost identical with out rotating anything. So i will now do a few Ks on the yokos & post up how they feel & what they handle the rough stuff like.
I've got them on my Crewman and they are a brilliant tyre. Better than the SO3 in all areas.

That is good to hear C4B. I had my brothers xr8 ute for a week & he has the v102 on his & i was impressed with the grip & the turn in stability. They just had no sidewall flex. I find the so3 tend to roll & flex initially on turn in.

I don't think you'll be disapointed with these tyres. I have had three sets of SO-3's on my clubby and then decided to change to the AVS ES100's and have to say they are a great tyre.
As you mentioned the grip is great in the wet and dry (heaps better that SO-3's), steering turn in is far better and cornering is improved (the sidewalls are very stiff), and so far I've done 23,000km and they are wearing well (been rotating them every 5,000km, probably get another 10-15,000km out of them at least). I was getting around 30,000km out of the Bridgestones.
Only negative for the tyre is that they are probably a bit noiser than the Bridgestones on certain road surfaces.

245/45/18 are setting me back $355 each for 4. I was quoted $380 each for the advan v103 but there are none in country at the moment in that size. SO-3 were $415-$440 per tyre. Yoko are priced pretty good compared to the bridgies.

Sonny will kill me if i get them again. I have clocked up 21k km now & they may be 1/2 -2/3 worn. They grip excellent, they wear well & are stiffer in the side wall that the so3. But they are hell noisy & getting louder as they wear. It drove Sonny nuts when he had it for a few days. As i said in the start i was after the V103 yokies but this is all they had. me personally i dont care about noise , as long as they work. I cant fault them in that department. Ohh another small down side, they pick up heaps of small stones in the tread for the first 10k km, & you will have to stop & pick them out as that will piss you off. You would think there was a nail in the tyre. I dont rotate them either & front & rear are wearing the same. Performance in the wet is exceptional. hope that helps you out.

I was told today that yokie are softer and would wear quickly, so i may just stay with bridgestones.
Also on another thing have you had your exhaust done, if yes what size and type
thanks gavin

I have had the ES100s and found them to be a good tyre. I then changed them to the V-102 Yokohama and these are better again for similar price.

Agreed re the noise of the Yokies. Fantanstic tyre grip and wear wise, but they get a real roar up after they are about half worn down.

Havnt changed the exhaust at all. Bone stock bar a monaro cold air intake, & the torque reduction turned off.
