Hi All,

I have noticed since I picked up my car (its under warranty so no real drama) that when first started (hot or cold) it makes a noise from what sounds like the front of the trans (or thereabouts). Its hard to explain, its not like a clunk, or a click, but like something engaging I guess.

If you start the car with no throttle it doesnt do it until you either give it a bit of a rev, or put it into gear and give it some throttle (even just a touch)?

Is this normal? If not, has anyone heard this before? It doesnt seem to affect the operation of anything, but is starting to make me think what it could be... :hmmm: The car has done 60,000kms, with full Holden Service history..

Should I go back to the dealer??

Thanks, Stu.

I think by memory it is something like the ABS self check..

My VX does the same thing. sounds like its coming from the LH Front. Like a a click when you first touch the accel. I just figured it was something to do with the trac cont turning on or as you said ABS module. Its done it for as long as i can remember so I wouldnt worry.

mine doesnt, then again it doesnt have TC and its not an SS :errr:

The gearbox makes a click into reverse but apparantly thats normal. something needs to wait for something else to catch up and what you get is a click until their both on the same level or something.

Yeah its the ABS, nothing to do with the traction control.

If it comes from the LHS of the car its the traction control, when trac control comes on you will feel the accelerator pedal apply a sudden force back (towards you!) this in effect lowers the throttle and "supposedly" :p stops wheelspin. (Sometimes with a light Bang noise!)
If you manage to keep your foot planted though, it then starts cutting spark to cylinders to reduce power, Not sure if it puts abs onto different wheels though as well.

Its the part that takes up the slack in the cable making the noise, mine does it every day!

My 2003 Monaro CV8 does the same thing - has done since new - the Dealer had no idea what it was - doesn't affect performance.
