View Full Version : September Motor Mag is out
Looks to have lots more info on the VE, over 20 pages dedicated to it. Looks to be well worth the read :yup:

I got mine last week :p
Morley does most of the driving, and for some one who ALWAYS bags Commodores he is pretty positive, haven't read it all yet but there looks to be lots of detail about suspension, chassis, brakes etc. etc.

Just got my Motor magazine on Monday. Here are their recorded times from their drive days -
SSV 2WD 6 speed auto : 0 to 100 km/h in 5.69 and 1/4 mile in 13.90 @ 167.7km/h
SS 2WD 6 speed manual : 0 to 100 km/h in 5.35 and 1/4 mile in 13.63 @ 170.7km/h
WRX STi AWD : 0 to 100 km/h in 5.48 and 1/4 mile in 13.62 @ 162.83km/h
Evo 9 AWD : 0 to 100 km/h in 5.90 and 1/4 mile in 14.07 @ 160.57km/h
" When the SS and SSV where tested all this happened on a damp track (between showers as it happened) and you can believe that there's a fraction of more speed to be had."
The SS manual is pretty quick then when you compare heavier car and not AWD !!!
Next month they test VE vs BF ..... BRING IT ON :flipoff:

Not even a new transmission with regards to the manual either? Pretty surprised the manual beat the 6 auto by that much. Maybe they have slotted a RipShift under there

SS was a manual ... SSV was an auto ... possibly some weight issues in there ???
Would be interesting to see a auto v manual comparison, same day, same driver, same model :yup:

apparently the new diffs have less power lost thorugh them so greater driveline efficiency. ZF make them I think

Don't forget these weren't final production cars, so things might be slightly different with the real ones.

Still impressive figures from a heavier vehicle. They are getting closer to 12's
Will be interseting to see HSV's figures....
