I got a leak in the diff of my manual vy ss. So I thought while they have it apart i mite as well put some lower gears in it, but i dont know if i should put 3.9 or go the 4.11 which ones do you's think i should put in it. And how much do you think they would cost.
And also i took it to willowbank the other day and it ran a 13.2 @ 108 m.p.h. Is that a good time. Its got 234rwkw

They will cost around 1000-1300 depending if you have the speedo configured for the new gear ratio. 3.9 diff gears seem to be the go for a manual. You just have to ask yourself how much highway driving your car is going to be doing and how much of a daily driver it is. If it is more of a track car 4.11. Street and track i would go 3.9 for fuel economical reasons.

Going by the numbers I assume it has had a tune already, so you will need the tuner to reset the speedometer anyway.
3.91 is currently the highest ratio you can put in the late model diffs I believe, need the earlier model VT one for 4.11s.
3.91 is a very good compromise for the manuals, makes 6th usable. I have 4.11 in my Camaro though, and that is still eminently streetable with the MM6 box.

That sounds pretty good to me.. I'm no expert but I'd be happy with that.
What mods do you have, or just a tune??

thanks guys i will go for the 3.9, my wife takes the car to work so it would be more economical. im gonna get a maffless tune done so i can get a otr cai i'll get the speedo done then as well. It has ss induction cai, maff sensor, maff pipe and throttle body as well as extractors, dual 2.5" and a tune from Power Torque Engines.

You might think that doesn't count for much but when I had my 3.9s fitted by Harts I wasn't happy with the noise level from the diff (some slight period noise evident in a quiet Calais spec Senator). Without any question at all, Harts fitted 4 different sets until I was happy, with not 1 cent extra in cost and even loaned me a deluxe (?)set of wheels while they did it... I've been around for a long time and I have to say that their service is absolutely exceptional. Full marks :bravo:
