Hey guys
I recently change over 4 bald falken tyres which i had no problems with(until the treads were worn out), over to 4 set of 2nd hand tyres. 2 of the front are Pirelli's Assimmetrico and 2 rears are michelin Poilot sport or something along that line. Its making a very loud noise like as though the wheel bearings are gone, i took it to holden they couldnt tell me whats wrong with it but said it wasnt the wheel bearings. I've driven it like this for quite awhile now but just want to know if i can get rid of this noise or if its any danger to keep driving? On high speeds you feel the steering rattling but seems ok so far.

Rob.

This might be a stupid question but have you checked the direction is correct? I think having the tyre running the wrong direction can be noisy and also pretty dangerous.

Pirelli's are as noisy as hell, but stick like glue.
Trouble is, they don't last very long at all.
Also, maybe the tyres have some flat spots?
If you had to lock up Pirellis, it would leave a hell of a flat spot as the rubber compound is very soft. Previous owner may have done this, esspecially if the tyres came off a wreck.
Just some ideas mate.
ps, swap the Pirrellis to the back, might help?

thats why its always best to buy new tyres you don't know the past history of the tyres. Would you buy second hand brake pads too???

If the tyres are shaking your steering wheel, they are causing wear on your suspension and steering systems.

New Nankangs are so cheap. I wouldn't bother with 2nd hand tyres. How much for 2 Nankangs for the front end? $280?? If this fixes the problem, the 2nd hand tyres can be kept for the rear end.
