View Full Version : VX R8 Clubby brought last weekend....
and we love it.
We take delivery of it next week after they finish off a service and some pre delivery checks, wheel balance alignment etc etc.
This vehicle has been purchased from Zupps Aspley, Brisbane. So if there is anyone who knows anything about it we would love to know a bit of history for it. It was traded on a GTO about 2-3 weeks ago if that helps.
I would have posted some pics here but the mods have restricted it so I can't. What tha!!! :errr:
I am also after some advise on relatively inexpensive mods that I can do myself. Just things to give it a little more punch....
Then I guess I will be off to Power Torque to get a GenTT system installed.:nyuk:
Thanks Folks.

No one can post attachments, doesn't matter how many posts you have ... host them somewhere else and link to them, you can do that anytime !!!
Edit ... posts in the "Your ride" section and "The tar pit" don't count :D

Lucky man, ive always liked the VX shape in white, and those rims are a nice look. The Gen-TT system sounds like fun thats for sure, im off to rob a bank now, seeing that makes me want one so much more
We are happy with her.... but it would be nice to get a little history on her.
Fingers crossed the previous owner's were members of this forum or someone knew them.

I'll take the VX over the later models any day (Except maybe the VE). I love the newer models for their external design, but the interior really sux, in my opinion. I much prefere the interior of the VX.

im actually the other way around - i like the hsv vx exterior more than the vy/vz but like the latters interior more

It's not so much the front end of the VX, that is fine, it just looks..well fat in the rear end compared to the VY's and so on. Don't get me wrong, I love my VX, but the backend of the VY's onwards appeal to me more. :karate:

Great purchase and looks immaculate in the pics! Just as an aside and it's the pedant in me: when you purchase something you are said to have 'bought' it not 'brought' :stick:

I have seen a couple of HSV Y's in factory white so probably were a few VX's too.
Very nice ride, what kind of difference does the gentt mod make to the vx models?

Beautiful ride mate...I maybe a bit biased (see my profile) but I reckon the VX HSV is one of the best looking HSV's ever made...and Twin turbos..oh yeah....that's just what I have in mind as well..

Yep, white was a factory option on the VX Clubsport, so it is genuine.

aaahhhh excellent. I figured as much, it was either that or a very good respray (you can usually see a little over spray somewhere!).

I figured we gave him enough time.
Back to the car: are you going straight for the TT kit or do you have some other mods in mind? One word of advice, watch out once the mod bug strikes - today I wandered in to Powertorque innocently enough and walked out having my next round of mods planned. It all seemed to just 'happen'. Shaun is a devious man indeed!

hahaha, I have a wife that will keep that in check!..... maybe. :karate:
Naa not going straight to the TT, wanting some small mods that I can do myself to get the best out of it as it is, then will look at a tune/edit.

Thought I had seen that car before. It should look in pretty good nick as it was all but rebuilt after a major prank on the Victoria Bridge outbound on the motorway. Looks like it has come up pretty good though.
Just kidding, I know nothing about it and it does look like its in great knick. Hope you have great motoring in her and Yes they are one of the best looking clubbies.

Same here mate. Love the VX exterior, think it's the best looking for sure, but I like the VY on interiors better.
Congrats on the purchase mate, I'm a big fan of Clubbies in white. Yours is only the second VX I have seen in white, looks very nice!

Yeah we really like it.
The guys at Zupps have contacted the previous owner of the vehicle and all he has done on it is a twin catback system (Which I already knew about).
So I guess it's coming down to a cold air intake, edit/tune and maybe a diff.
Now my knowledge of diff's is almost none existant, so what will a new diff do?
Knight Phlier
23-08-2006, 10:49 AM
In the VY Clubby the M6 already has a 3.73 diff. I think this is the same in the VX as well. Not sure if the A4 has a different ratio diff to the normal SS.
A different ratio diff will give you better acceleration as the gear ratio at the rear of the vehicle is changed. This can affect fuel usage. Most people will either upgrade to 3.91 gears if M6, or 3.73 if it is an Auto.

Ok cool, so if I get a diff with bigger ratio's it will excelerate faster and improve economy?

3.9:1 will accelerate quicker than 3.73:1 but will use more fuel (in general - but minimally) The car will rev slightly higher (200rpm @ 100kph give or take)

ok so if I am after lower revs and better economy then I need to go to a higher diff ratio?

A higher ratio, like 3.9:1 will rev higher and use more petrol but accelorater quicker. A lower reatio, say 3.08:1 will rev lower, use less petrol, accelorate slower but havea higher top speed, that you will never reach on a road anyway, hope that helped

Yup, got that. So if I want to keep good economy stick with the standard basically?

yeah, pretty much, if your not aiming for real quick times down a quater or around a track, cant go wrong with the stock ratio basically

Those ones look heaps flatter than the genuine ones, I couldn't bring myself not to put geniunes on.
