Gday,
When I purchased my VX Calais, the bulb for the driver's side climate control lcd screen was working but the passenger side was blown. Now the driver's side has blown too so I took out the unit, unscrewed the backing cover, and now i'm wondering how to get the bulbs out.
I expected to see just bulbs in a harness but it seems to be in the PCB.
How do they come out?
Cheers.

i assume you removed the back cover.
screwdriver in the little black round things turn them about a qtr turn and they fall out
i replaced mine with blue leds no more bulb blows

undo the legs/wires from the bulb that come out the back and wrap around the holder to make the connections

This may be a stupid question but how do they undo?
Cheers.

which backs are those again, its been a while.
should be either 1 a small flat round type with a slot for a screwdriver, or 2 a rectangular type back you can just turn with your fingers. both types are in that unit from memory
if 2 they just pull out, type 1 i mentioned before, but more detial unravel the fine wire on each side which will allow it to slip back out the front
... and where did you get the blue leds ?
got mine from jcar, but VZ has led's already i think.

It's 1 (small flat round slot for flathead).
I'll see if I can work out how to unravel the wire and get the bulb out. I don't want to have to pay $22 for the auto elec to do it :vpo:
Thanks for the help mate, I appreciate it.

very easy, should be able to see the end of the wire on each side in those fine slots, i think it goes up across the top (for the connection to power) back down to the back, then straighten out and pull bulb out the front. the wires hold it in.

Just went and bought two new ones from Holden - cost about $8 each.
Also asked them about a bulb for my trip computer mode switch, they sold me the wrong one so I brought it back, money refunded, and just said they didn't have any (didn't offer to order it in). Went to a different dealer, who said they didn't have any either and would need to order it in from Melbourne! Bloody hell...
Got a replacement at my auto elec for $4 though.
