This may be a silly idea but it would be interesting to hear your opinions.

When buying a new car I think it would be better if we could order direct from Holden over the Internet at a substantially reduced price.(cutting out the middle man & dealer delivery fees).
Lets face it most of us know more about the cars then 90% of salesmen.
This would only suit people who know exactly what they want.
Of course to stop tyre kickers,Holden would have to have some sort of rules(such as non-refundable deposits etc)

What do you guys/gals think??

it would be good for us, but Holden would not want to piss off the dealer network :)

There are some online carbroker type places like privatefleet? i think that offer some type of cut price deal - but generally you can negotiate that with your dealer anyway

Not really, i know of discounts and can get better pricing on cars than Joe blow who walks in off the street. I even have Holdens price list on my computer so i can tell a dealer how much i want to pay for a car.

And no im not going to share it:burnout:

Why mention you have such a list if you are not going to share it? That's useful to the rest of us.......

You can always get cars cheaper than what they quote on discountnewcars.
Lets face it in this day and age most of us do not need Salesmen.

If the cars are more affordable they will sell more.

bah don't get me started with these shonky buggers.

before the release of the VE, I was looking at getting back into a WRX (I know, I know keep your comments to yourself).

Anyway, I put in an enquiry through discountnewcars

Didn't hear a thing for ages

About a month later, I get an email asking me what I thought of the service ?

I replied "What service ?"

Anyhow, about 2 weeks later, I get a call from a subaru dealer .... In caboolture ... not exactly close to where I live (1/2 way between Brisbane and Gold Coast).

The saleswoman pretty much said take a drive up to see us and we'll see what we can do ... was not in the least bit interested in talking any figures other than RRP over the phone.

Discount new cars my arse.

It will NEVER happen, as there would still have to be a pick up point, and and then there is the pre delivery, which can actually find things the factory didn't do, plus detailing, arranging rego, and finally, try taking it back to your local dealer for warranty issues when you took a sale off them!!!!
There'd be no special service....
