Wouldn't just using a 15 inch Exec steelie be much cheaper and easier?

as vy storm said, search ebay, best bet is you'll find something decent there for a good price.

i spose any size would fit underneath the ute then?
stupid question i know.. i have a 17" rim lying around.. providing if offset and the no. of nuts are right.. and my ute atm is running on 18s.. is it possible to use that 17" as a spare? is it ok to drive short distance uneven?

17s and 18s wont be uneven, its only once you go to 19s that it matters...

The 15" inch steelie is fine if you have standard brakes - this is what the car comes with. I have a HSV 17" spare from ebay as stated above for $200.

i just had a quick look outside.. got a 17" i think is200 rim sitting around.. not that the size of the rim would matter anyways would it?
So it should fit underneath the ute with ease?

Why would you want a space saver rim under a ute for? It's not like you can use the free space it creates under there! Plus it looks shithouse when you do have to use it.

My VZ SS Ute came with an 18" spare so I guess pretty much any Commie rim would fit.

The rim isnt really a space saver its just bigger so it can fit over the hsv brakes as someone wrote earlier rthe 15" rim doesnt fit over the brakes.
