My Mrs was at Mitre 10 Mega at Modbury today, when she came out found some clown had reversed into the front of the clubby!!!!!:flamin: :flamin:
Of course no note was left, just a broken headlight, dented mudguard and dented bonnet!!!!!!!
Apparently there were no witnesses, so if it has to be claimed on insurance there goes my rating 1!!!!
Damn that makes me angry, I know sh*t happens but they could at least have the common courtesy to leave their details. Dont know how these people sleep at night after doing that.
Anyway thats my rant, had to get it off my chest.

Damn, that sucks man. That car was pristine last time i saw it. To clean up the bonnet must have been a 4WD. Mitre 10 mega, pfft, bunnings is better than them, but dont go to bunnings either, they suck too, but still better than mitre 10.

This just happened to my brother, not as bad though, two chips from a bullbar on the bonnet down to the metal! Now he has to get the whole thing stripped and resprayed if he wants it fixed. People should have common courtesy enough to leave their details.

Don't you need like a court order for that kind of thing though?

You've got to hate that... I dont know how people can do it (not leave their info)
Are there any crash or paint & panel people on the forums that may be able to help you out instead of losing the rating one?? Being a HSV that would make quite a difference I would think...
And when its not even your fault...!

Pathetic is all i have to say.
the exact same thing happended to me.
definatley a 4wd hit me (because of the height of the dents), in the middle of my bonnet. luckily no head lights were broken, but i did need a brand new bonnet and the whole front end resprayed, $1200 damage, no note.
mine happend at knox city, and i punched the concrete pillar wen i saw it. (note to self: dont punch concrete when mad).
Hope the repairs dont set you back too much.

similar thing happened to me on sunday..
Went back to my car after shopping with the Mrs, only to find a honda odysee growing off my rear bumper.. didnt do too much damage, just a small chip from their number plate, so i left the following note.
"Dear Mr. Honda driver,
I would like to thank you for your attempt at precision parking, and the damage it caused to the rear bumper of my black VT commodore.
It is my belief that you should be rewarded for your impeccable driving skills, and as such i have taken your details and will be forwarding them to my insurance company.
Regards,
Adam"
i cant really be bothered going through insurance (damage was very minor and the bar wasnt perfect anyway) and i was too stupid at the time to realise that i now have a phone with a camera but i am hoping my note did the trick and has them watching the phone/mailbox or whatever.

Welcome to the 21st century mate. No-one has any decency anymore. Unfortunately you'll have to suck it up and either pay for it yourself or go thru insurance.
Of course it sucks, but its just how it is. Good luck to you.

The company can hand it over to you if they want to. But no one can make them hand it over either.....if they have it that is.

Similar thing happened to my wife when we were in Townsville. Her little Suzuki Swift of the time had the front end trashed and I mean trashed. There was extensive damage to the front bumper, bonnet and lights. Must have been a serious whack, not just a little tap. No note:box: It was so bad that surely a witness would have seen it and even they might have left a note, but no.

i can beat all these......a friend who works at a regional car dealership parked her car, a mazda bubble, outside work a couple of months ago.Shortly after,a Ford F250 in for a service rolled (hand brake off) out of the yard, over the road and onto the bubble car..........dealership paying for repairs apparantly.....

Well I had the pleasure of coming out early this afternoon and finding my drivers side mirror hanging on by the power cable. No note, nothing....but there is no surprise there.
Some has come along and whacked it with their car, bending it back until it popped off.
The mirror's electrics still work, but the (excuse my bad description here) metal gear thing that holds the mirror on has turned around and locked into place. I have tried to twist it back around so I can at least clip it back on until Monday when I can get it fixed but it won't budge.
So I have put it in place as best I can and then duct tapes it on. Not the best looking job, but it is all I could do. If anyone has any idea how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm just annoyed that this happened around 4 weeks before I get my Calais V.

I once caught a bloke who backed into my old vr commadore in his Landcruizer attempting to drive off as i was walking back to my car from the shops.
As soon as i ran and was about to open his door ( and potentially put him in intensive care ) he stopped.:bash:
Although i was only 19 at the time i knew my rights and when i confronted him he admitted that he was gonna do a runner. Only had minor damage to the bumper and rear spoiler and boot and he co-operated privately so no insurance company was involved. We ended up having a few beers and became mates for a while till he moved.

Dont rule out a tray back ute either. You cant see jack out of the back of those things either (falcon or holden). I remember backing up one time in a work ute (falcon ute). Smaked it into another ute with a cold room/fridge attached to the back. Minor ding but I ended up having a look for the owner at the place I was at and found him. Luckily he wasnt too concerned about it and showed me a beuty of a ding he earlier had that was caused from an earlier car park ding. He appreciated my honesty and away I went. Mind you the dint I put into his ute was the size of a 50c piece. This was due to me slowly and carefully backing up but this time I miss judged my distances. I dont understand how anybody could take out a whole front end though!

I always try to pack on the side of the road rather than a carpark because of things like this. Got sick of finding dents in my doors.
Worked well for a few years until one night. Was walking to my car watching one of the kids closely when I heard a bang. Looked up to see a car weaving along the road, obviously having just side-swiped my car.
Got the wife to watch the kids and jumped in the car to follow the culprit. Found him at the next set of lights, pulled up beside him and yelled out, "You just hit my car".
He looked back in a drunken stupor and just drove off through the red light, much to the "surprise" of the Harley rider who managed to avoid him.
Followed him for a while and he got nervous, and pulled over and ran for it. I just stood between him and the car. He watched from a distance and eventually walked back and said (should be slurred) that he had not been driving the car. He also would not produce his driver's licence.
To cut a long story short, he got upset when I would not let him back in the car. He said, "How am I going to get home, it's too far to walk".
I kindly offered him a lift, and he accepted. He got me to drop him off outside a house but stood there until I went around the corner. Parked, jumped out and noted the house that he entered.
Returned to pick up the family and went to report the incident to the police. From the rego number, they immediately called in the Highway Patrol who went to look for him.
I went home, and got a call the next day. They had trouble finding him, but eventually found him hiding in trees in teh back yard. Unfortunately it was "out of time" for a valid booze test.
Ended up in court, where I found out that I qualified as an "expert witness" in inebriation - all those years in the defence force gained that uunusual qualification.
Anyhow, grub pleaded not guilty, and said he had not been drunk. Magistrate commented that his statement on the night of arrest stated that some one must have spiked his drinks. Clever individual responded by stating that it was not fair that they took a statement from him that night, "...considering the state I was in". Magistrate turned to me and said he didn't need me anymore. Got remanded for pre-sentence report as he was apparently a serial offender.
Sorry for the long story, but moral is, "Don't park in parking lots".

I was going to post some pics of my mirror....but by the time I thought of it I had duct taped it up.
Gotta be careful if a drunk driver crashes into you. Being drunk = his insurance wont cover him = you have to try and get the money out of him personally. This isn't a problem if you have comprehensive cover though. Anyway, if someone hits your car and you suspect they are drunk or stoned, its best to just get their details and chase their insurer - unless of course you dont think they're insured or you can get them sent to jail ....

The other thing on my mind was that the driver was a menace to the community, so part of my aim was to get him off the road.

It's doesn't just happen here either. Whilst on holiday in NZ with my girlfriend, we left a pool complex and two kids about 18 walked out behind us. Any way we were walking down the street when we heard this huge bang. I turned around, by this time we were around 100+ metres away and I still heard the bang. These kids had reversed straight into the drivers door of a commodore they were in one of those huge 4WD mitsubishi vans. (they have the bull bar type arrangement on the back also so left no damage to them) anyway left a huge dent in the door, visible from where I was standing (would require a whole new door skin at least). Any way the kids pulled over and I thought good on them they are doing the right thing, then they saw the damage and literally run back to their car and took off!!!!!!! I was fuming I felt so sorry for the poor prick. I feel just as bad as them as I witnessed this but didn't come forward.( Had no Idea where the owners were and had no pen or paper to write them a note.)
I felt sick to my stamach at the thought that it could have benn my car.

Well my car that now has one mirror is technically my replacement government car as my other one was written off by a P plater about 4 months ago and I was given the another new VZ to have until the VE was released.
I was driving down a main road doing 60 and the P plater failed to stop or even slow down at the T junction and slammed straight into the front of my car. It ripped the entire front off and his car and the remains of mine ended up on the other side of the 4 lane road. Boy was I pissed, I missed my meeting! Thankfully I was fine, just a little shaken by the airbag in my face.
So I'm not having the best luck with my cars at the moment.

I agreee that a lot of ppl just dont care, but some ppl are just plain stupid. A few days after I bought the SS I took the boys at work to Eastgardens shopping centre for lunch (sydney). Wanting to minimise risk of door dings, and seeing that the carpark was like half full, I parked straddling the white line, effectively taking 2 spots, or so I thought. I get back and there is a friggin landcruiser wedged in between my car and the concrete post. Free spots everywhere of course. Sure enough my passenger front door had a ding with paint taken out and my passengers actually had to climb in from the drivers side.
Now I am not the worlds most patient and even tempered guy, and I know that carving "F*ckwit" into the cruisers rear door with a screwdriver wasn't the right thing to do, but......
I remember one of my mates saying "What if the dude comes back" and when he didnt, thinking "well, better a screwdriver to the car, than his chest."
But basically yeah, it's unfortunate that most people are not as passionate about their rides as we obviously are.

I realise where you are coming from but I do know people (who don't drive nice cars) that specifically note how much they hate people with nice cars thinking they are allowed to take up 2 parks etc, although tempting I won't do it for the fact that it will single my car out and make it a target for some ass who has made it his personal mission to annoy anyone that uses 2 parks. It's like putting up a sign that says "my car is better than everyone elses so I'm gonna use 2 parks so none of you idiots with a crappy car can hurt mine" basically an invitation for someone to pick on your car. I tend to try park next to the end of parking bays so that only 1 side is exposed.

Good point Crusty. I hadn't actually thought of it that way. Just a couple of weeks ago in Bondi westfield carpark I saw a 69/70 camaro convertible parked right outside the entrance to the escalator bit. Completely illegally parked on top of the huge yellow lines and "no parking" signs. It was a damn fine car, a personal fav of mine, and after ogling it for a bit, I just thought it was cool that this guy just parks wherever he wants because he has such a sh*t hot ride.
I guess I just dont have that auto-jealousy gene or something ;)

Thats cause we can admire a nice car rather than think "bastard has too much money lets scratch it to teach him a lesson and show him how cool us cowards are" :D I'm sure there are people who are born with a Jealousy gene and never think that maybe someone has slogged their ass off and worked a 2nd job to afford his ride, they always assume that mummy or daddy bought the car, I personally know a bunch of people that to this day still dont believe a guy I know paid for his nice car with his own money but I know the work he put in etc, it's a shame that some justify themselves buy blaming others hard work/good fortune.
