Just caught the end of the TV ad for the new 'Toyota Camry Grande' (?)...

Its not a bad looking car. Dont get me wrong, its got nothing on the VE, and probably goes just as hard as all their other Camry's  but it looks quite good (from the short clip i saw anyway...).

Pity its a Camry

Yeah I think it (and the coming Aurion) actually look pretty good. There seems to be a real culture to 'bash the Camry', which I think is often unfair. Its a good reliable car with good resale value, and finally it actually looks ok.

I'm curious what this new "TRD" performance division will mean for future Aurions (and other Toyotas). That supercharged version they've got coming could be something good, especially if they put AWD in it!

Probably their best effort yet with the camry (which isn't really saying anything) but I bet they will still have no soul.

The best design out of Toyota was the last Supra...a decade ago!

I pity the fool who falls for the marketing hype of Mr T.

The Camry hits its market well. I had look at one yesterday, they look much better than the model it replaced. Second-hand Toyota usually sells well.

In terms of fuel consumption my friends new Camry with less than 200kms on the clock showed 13.5 L/100Km with an average speed of 15km. My Ecotec would have shown roughly 20L/100 at the same average speed. On the highway my Ecotec will get very close to the Camry in fuel consumption and it weighs 100- 150Kg more and has a 4-speed auto.

I’m finding the major difference between the current generation and last generation of cars is safety features.

In the Wheels or MOTOR mag, it had a figure of something like 80000 Camrys are exported from Oz compared to about 15000? Holdens. So they're doing something right for their market with the Camry.
I don't know why they didn't just whack the V6 into the Camry instead of making the Aurion to compete with the Camry sales.

Creating the Aurion from the Camry is all about marketing. If Toyota released a 4 and 6 Camry only, they would likely sell less cars than now where they will have the "future of Aussie 6s" (please!), the Aurion, with unique styling. Good plan really, but we all know its just a different looking Camry V6.

Toyota should bight the bullet and take an upcoming RWD Japanese market only large car and modify it accordingly, give it 6 and 8 cylinder power, and build in in Australia, and export it around the world as a niche car. For example, I think they could do very well exporting an "Aussie style car (RWD 6 and 8)" to the US and the Middle East.

hahaha if Toyota Oz f*ck up this whole "Aussie TRD" thing, then you'll quickly see Supra and Turbo Celica drivers removing those massive tacky TRD stickers!

If Toyota threw their sweet little v8 they have in the front , im pretty sure it would have some soul then.

I work for a "transport" company that saw the new VE & Camrys the day prior to delivering to dealerships, and they are nice cars.... The camry will suite a camry driver....

Being a previous camry driver i can tell u that i would not be purchasing a camry again, but in saying that, rumour does have it, there will be a 4.0L V8 option in series 2 possibly....

V8 or not, i still wouldnt want another camry

I must say I have never liked Camry's, but seeing this one I think it is very well stocked for the money.

If I was actually paying for my car and wanted bang for my buck I would seriously consider it.
