I've found a VX Calais I'm thinking of buying it's advertised for 23k its an LS1 with 22,000 km's on the clock.. It's in a car dealers so I can try and bargin them down plus I have my VS to trade on it as well so with the trade I may get them down to 20 or 21k..
I know it's a bit pricey for a VX but consider the low km's on it does it sound like a good deal??

Cheers,

Wayne

Mate what year Calais is it to begin with? Also condition must be pretty dammm good then... Just 1 thing to watch out for is the K's, some dealers have been caught out on changing instrument clusters or whining back the clock. I take it has logs? does it all check out ie car is meant to be serviced every 6 months regards of K's etc. For that sorta money have you looked at maybe a VY Calais, with a few more K's than that?

I agree with Tez on this one. Firstly, I'd never buy a used car from a Dealer....the prices they want are ridiculous.

My flatmate purchased a mint 2002 VXII Calais with 40,000k on the clock for 18 grand about 6 months ago. No doubt the prices have fallen since then. Have a look on carsales and see what kind of prices VX Calais' are going for now... I think you'll be surprised at what you can get for 23k :)

VX clubbys can be had for very little more than that, its a bit steep for a calais no matter what condition, dont forget what fuels done to the market.

Definately shop around a bit.
I picked up my VT2 exec ls1 (115,000km) for $15.5k from a dealer about a month ago. Could have found a similar car cheaper with a private sale however i liked the idea of a statutory warranty in case anything was amiss. Should have bought one privately as i have found a couple of faults (different suspension to advertised and a couple of bushes that require replacement) and the dealer doesnt want to know about it.
Silly me for jumping on it without performing the proper checks, its mechanically perfect with only a couple of minor issues regarding the suspension but its a headache i could have done without.

Pretty much thought is too expensive, I've been looking around alot of dealers lately and there are a shitload of VX's still being advertised for over 20k specially the LS1's and the VY or VZ are still being advertised for high 20 and low 30's... Despite what people are saying about the market being shocking for v8's the dealers seem to think this is wrong as I've walked away from 4 cars already as the dealers wouldnt drop the prices below 20k...
I'll just wait til the VE's start hitting the 2nd hand market and see what happens there.. I've still gotta fit in with my missus as well alot of cars i would have jumped at she wont because of the colours.. It took me ages to talk her into thinking about a VY or VZ and she wont touch one unless its a dark colour he says the dark colours hide the ugly arse magna rear end..
This looking at new car thing is pissing me off royally because of that,,,
I'm not fazed on the colour as long as it's not white im happy It's the features that attrach me, my missus is stuck on the colours doesnt matter what features itt's got if she dont like the colour she wont look at the car..
I knocked back a VY Calais V8 with full leather and factory satnav and sunroof because she didnt like the colour it's had 50k on the clock and was 27k..
