I'm just wondering what you guys do for Insurance on trackdays ? ie HSV owners club etc.
Will shannons cover you for just one day ?
I'm currently with RACV and I am pretty sure that they would not cover trackday/ drag damage. I just dont like the idea of ounting my car into the wall with no insurance.
PS I'm 19 if that information helps

Im certainly no expert, but I think it is a case of race at your own risk.

As far as I know it's in there somewhere, but good luck getting it. If you do get the OK by an underwriter for it, your premium will be horrendous, the excess will be big and the maximum they will cover you for is $20k. It's not economical, it is priced out. Only really feasible if you have a pre-1940s car.
However under the policy I think they cover you for 'driver training'.

Shannons does do under 25s, who ever told you that wasn't telling the truth. I have had Shannons underwriters lie to my friends before, so if it were one of them call back and be nice to the person on the phone.

We can provide you with a quote on-line if:
It is in good repair (except for Laid Up cover only)
It is for private use
You are the registered owner of the car/bike
All drivers/riders are aged 25 years or over
thats all i was going on but i still could be wrong

When you crash on the track get it towed to the nearest public road and place in front of the nearest tree :deal:

Depends on a number of factors. Although as far as I can tell the main criteria is that you are a motor enthusiast, which you need to display.
Have you tried Just Car? They'll quote you online.

My question is, what are you planning on doing at a track day that would call for insurance. LOL
If you have a d%#khead behind you let him through, if you have a d#!khead in front of you, sit back and have fun watching, won't be long before they go cross country!
Insurance companies have enought money.

If you have life insurance that generally doesnt cover you either on track days or drags unless u have organised special cover. Special cover is likely to be up to 4 times a standard premium.

You'd be surprised :) Some people on here will know of one of the skidpan days about a year or so back, a guy in a ute done a big drift into a dirt mound and got some serious damage on his car, called up his insurer and told them exactly how it happened and they were happy to cover it as driver training.

Yep, im <25 and have had my car insured with shannons for about 2 years so far, no issues. Just have to show youre an enthusiast and they should be happy to insure you. Also assuming the car has minimum required alarm and is garaged etc...
When you crash on the track get it towed to the nearest public road and place in front of the nearest tree :deal:
Nice way to get done for insurance fraud :D Theyre not idiots, they'd take one look at the car and be able to figure out the crash didnt happen how you said, and all its takes is for one phone call to the track to figure out if you were there and if you crashed, and youre in big shit :D

Track days are dangerous, as much as we like to think we're all excellent drivers, fact of the matter is when youre driving hard (as you would expect to do on a track day) youre more likely to have it all go to shit..

You'll find that at major track days they'll be an insurance spotter who'll register regos of cars and bikes that have been involved in any type of accident...that's why you never wear plates :)
This is pretty common if you drop a bikeon the track, just get it home and then state that you dropped it around the corner from home or something to that nature. Not that easy to explain though if you've totalled the car into a wall

Slightly different subject but the company I work for thought it'd do the right thing and offer defensive driving courses for anybody that regularly pilots company or hire cars...but in the individuals own car.
Well everybody queued up until someone mentioned the word insurance. To date the course hasnt happened....

I rang Shannons about track day insurance last week as I am going to wakefields trackday this coming Wednesday. They said they insure you for driving training and advanced driving courses, but not track days.
So, I'm just going up to watch my mates who aren't that worried about their cars :)

On track insurance is out there but it costs!!!.
Simple moto to apply to track days......if you can't afford to pay, you can't afford to play.:soap:
Buy a cheaper car for track days is my advice.
