Curious as to the effects of lowering the VE and how the ESP system will take the changes..IE: unpredicable results??

I understand the system has 19 different factory settings and that HSVi are ment to recalibrate the system after changing rim sizes, so just wondering what issues this might raise..

Many people dont want to answer my question it seems..

This whole lowering business is a mystery to me too.

I am thinking about lowering my SSV (not got it yet) - but with the new suspension system, esp, tyre wear etc etc..is it just a question of new springs or is lowering a more complex matter when done correctly.

Also - is the manufactures warranty likely to be compromised is lowered after market?

Will be watching responses in the hope of learning about what actually is involved and if it's as easy as just driving into the local Pedders.

talk to walkinshaw, they would have worked closly with holden on this i would imagine and they already have a pack out which includeds lowering and cat back.

Wouldn't worry to much about it. Lowering it an inch or so isn't going to change much. Definately won't hurt the tyres due to the double wishbone rear end.

Doubt warranty would be a drama given Holdens track record, unless they can prove whatever is broken was caused solely by the lowering.

As has been mentioned in other threads on this topic, an inch hear or there has to have been anticipated in the engineering brief for the ESP. A fully loaded car could easily drop an inch.

Not really - they would still be a good source of information as you suggest

I spoke to a suspension shop here in Perth yesterday and they have lowered a VE SS last week. There are two levels of lowering available through them - 25mm and 40mm down.

I'm there when mine is delivered.....

40mm down.

Noice, my kind of lowering :)

40mm is a fair whack. does that mean that every rail way crossing and every curb or drive way entrance will now result in a traffic jam as these low Commodores try to get across.

I'd be interested to know what the ground clearance on a 40mm reduction would be.

Thanks

Out of interest - any idea on prices and what they actually do for the money?

The picture on the walkinshaw performance website shows the VE with the lowered suspension, sayin that they'll lower it and put in a cat-back for $1950, but how low is lower?

The pics make it look pretty low...which is a good thing if that's how low they make it!?

It's been answered before on a couple of occasions.

I drove a VE SSV (in black drool) that had been dropped and must say it drove well on after market 20's.I had the head of sales with me who said dropping them 40mm was no prob for the ESP and from the work out I gave it I think he is right...if it was going to freak out it would of.
