Likewise.
I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of the VE SS I took for a spin on Sunday - it went a lot better than I expected for a stocker. Can't wait to see how a tuned one goes.

Cheers,
- Febs.

PS: Do Holden even bother making it difficult for tuners to crack the PCMs now? First it was a few years...now it seems to be done in under a few weeks (ditto with the L76 in the VZ).

yep, its definitely not getting any easier.

eg. the last 2 years have seen 3 new PCM's and 2 new TCM's for the Holden V8's. The reason they seem to be picked up so quickly is that generally we see them in the US vehicles a year earlier.

You can pretty much walk into any dealer...and just buy one :)
Fill you guys in that are waiting though, the L98 programming is very similar to the outgoing L76. The VE has around 18 degrees of total timing from the factory, and fuel settings that are a little on the rich side straight out the box. Look towards 18 - 24kw (or around there) as a tune gain at the back wheels. At least thats what we are seeing :)

Sorry in Melb at the moment. The first few he did I was unable to post the results. You will read about those later.

Best stock VE SSV so far made 277hp before and 313 after a tune. The trend so far I would expect to be around the genuine 300rwhp after a tune. But like all engines, they can all be different. Hope that helps.

Would have posted this graph but ran out of time before having to fly out to melb.

Hope that helps

PS the standard tune on the scanner was up to -15deg timing at some points.

BTW one standard untuned car had 20deg timing with all others sitting around the 18 as Martin has pointed out.

The L98 is very active in the timing control department, and as Darren points out will retard timing (particularly in the low rpm ranges) up to -15 degrees if it sees fit (to control idle speeds etc)
