Well ive been driving my car pretty much all weekend, and just now after i dropped the girlfriend home, i noticed that the front passenger floor mat was wet, i almost :argue: at her thinking she dropped the coke she was drinking earlier but it wasnt that. Anyway... driving home i was concerned thinking where this water could have come from then i pulled over at the next servo went to the passenger door, and saw in the back waht i thought i was imagining... A HUGE PUDDLE, and i mean PUDDLE of water in the rear passenger footwell... about 10 times more than the front... i had a clear bottle and there was enough liquid in the back that i could scoop the bottle and get a decent sample of whatever it was ( this is how i got most of it out!) it was water... So im thinking is this a common problem with the monaro?? can it be fixed... it better be a warranty issue, other wise i am gonna do my :argue: at holden!!!

Please someone enlighten me and tell me if this problem occurred with them also.

Thanks

Mani

Just caused by improper application of sealant to the shell where a couple of joins meet - not unknown. Warranty fix, should include new carpet. The shell is galvanized, and in the short time your car has been around there will be no corrosion issues.

I had the same problem in my old VN, damn air conditioner drain kept blocking up, and it would over flow into the foot well. Lovely feeling when turning a sharp left, and 18 degree water slashing over your foot.

The common problems were actually fixed by late 2003 production, but the dealer will know what to look for on a Monaro.

Just an update guys.. i took the car into lansvale holden and they had a look at it.. apparently there was a leak through the wheel arches. They said they would be ordering a new carpet and replacing the current one at no cost!

What a relief!

I wouldn't drill a hole in a galvanized panel - not unless you want it rusting around the hole.

Dealer will just pull the carpet up, slap on some new goop, new carpet - good to go and no further issues. Job's done.

i had the EXACT same problem with my VN, 1 day im driving and i hear water inside, i look down and the passenger floor is soaked, i later notice that there is a puddle of water in the back passanger footwell that is big enough to swim in! How the water got in mine was through the water drain thinggy right under the window wipers on the passenger side, what happened was the mesh that is ontop of the mini drain got covered with leaves and gunk, it was causing the water to just build up and not be able to drain when it rained, and whenever the cars front was raised higher then the back, it would all run into the car from a spot under the passenger side glovebox.... if you have some sort of plate/protector sheild, under there it would be a good idea to take it out and dry everything and remove all the excess dirt and gunk that also leaked in.... but yea that was the problem i had, try that see if that is where the water is coming from.... after i cleaned it out thoroughly got rid of all the blockage on the drain, it hasnt ever happened.

My Pontiac GTO (AKA Monaro) leaks rain into the car if it is parked on uneven ground. The driver's side door seal's valley fills with water but does not get into the car.

The passenger side will get the rear carpet wet if it is parked with the driver's side at a lower elevation such as street parking ( on an uneven street).

Our dealers do not know how to fix it, they just replace the door rubber and it still does it.

Any ideas , My GTO is a 2005 and is under warranty but if i can fix it myself i will to save the B.S. with the dealer
