Hi guys,
Fitted a set of pacemakers to the ute on the weekend, but while undoing the bolts managed to break a harness for a plug. This thing plugs into the front of the passenger side of the engine, right next to the first bolt for the extractors. The plug is hanging in ok for now but is a bit loose, and when unplugged the car stalls.

After the install (Saturday) the car ran well, but thismorning when it was cold the idle was all over the place and ran really rough for about 10 minutes, with intermitent weird patches throughout the day...Could this be related to the broken plug or is this more likely to do with the oxy sensors??
I can get pics of the plug if need be, any help is apprectiated
Cheers, Jarrod

most likely the plug ... does it feel like there is a misfire at certain intervals as your accelerating through the lower revs? and idling very rough?? any backfire?

Is the plug plugged into something with a brass hex on its base? If so it will be the coolant temp sensor. That is in the area you describe, and will make it run rough when cold.

Thanks guys, yep, theres a brass hex at the base, and vyssbeast ur pretty spot on. Just went to the shops and barely made it, decided to just unplug it and see what happened this time, and it ran like a dream on the way home...

Sorry, but the spark plugs don't have a brass hex, nor will it run fine disconnected. When you disconnect the coolant temp sensor, the ECU reverts to a back up function, it will run ok, but you'd still be better off fixing it.
If you just broke the sensor itself, easy fix, bolt in a new one (don't do it with the motor hot) If the plug on the wiring is damaged, you may need to get that repaired.

Sweet as, just araldited the plug back together, should do the trick for now. What will the sensor with the hex base cost to replace??

Don't know for sure, but shouldn't be too much. Ring your local dealer, it should be easy for them to look up. Coolant temperature sensor is what you need to ask for. Happy :driving:
