HI All,
Have a ute... owners maunal states that it has a 70lt tank. I can only ever get 52lts into it when filling up.

I have had my ute into holden 4 times now to get the fuel gauge reading correclty. The vehicle is still under warranty. I'm coming up to my 40,000km service and i'm going to ask them to fix it again...

now for my question how many times would you have your car into holden to get something fixed and still not have that problem resolved??

is it now time for me to say something???

what would you do??

Cheers...

Normal problem I believe, same with mine.
Just fill it as much as you can and then drive a couple of K's and you will get more in it! (seriously) I never really worried about it 50 odd litres is cheaper than 70. :bravo:

yeah got the exact same problem.. and everytime they recalibrate the fuel gauge they say they've added the latest software and it should be fine now.
I figured its what they say and theres not much you can do about it. 3rd time been back already.. just tricklefill into another 10L or so after the 50L is full
how many k's you get roughly outta a 50L tank ?

I remember reading on here some time ago that the fuel pump is actually inside the tank in the Ute's, and the reason the low fuel light comes on so early is because you dont want your fuel pump pumping air, and that it is a safety feature and the calibration is in fact correct.

Im the same, light comes on and it takes only 52-55L each time, i dont mind too much as thats almost 2 weeks driving for me - home, work and the surf is only 5kms from me, I dont venture off the coast too often!

I also have to agree. My book says that I've got a 75 Ltr tank under the boot but I'll be dammed if it takes 75 Ltrs. I have run the car right down to the empty level on the needle and the computer says that I've only got around 6 - 14k's before I run out ? Yet every time I fill it (and yes, I keep going after the bowser clicks off) I can only jam in 62. Go figure ????

the first 1/4 of the needle doesnt move for about 60k's .. the next 10k's after that, the needle goes down to the 3/4 mark
im at the 1/4 mark after about 250k's.. i have never gotten even close to 400 for a full tank no matter how conservative i drive..
geez

mostly peak hour driving, 8am traffic and 5.30pm arvo traffic, 7 days a week
although it still doesnt justify only going 250km, max 300km on a full tank..

stock!!

just off topic here..
i still have warranty on the car.. it should be alright if i just put an exhaust on right?

i asked the dealer, and they said whichever part you modify, you void the warranty on that, but if that part affects another part making it not work, you also void the warranty on it... anyone know if this is true?
so i said what if i changed an aftermarket ecu on it, lol he said it voids the warranty for the whole car altogether

mate almost every member of this site has an exhaust upgrade... as for warranty on the ecu.. ?? how do poeple get around ls1 edit when the car goes in for service?? Or don't people use holden as there service agent... that would be my guess...

aftermarket ecu is NOT an edit
edit is recalibrating the standard pcm ..
i got mine done n still serviced at a dealer
by the way robert vy, when you get some mods done, your consumption will decrease and you'll get more outta a tank. my ecconomy is awesome at the moment, driving to uni this morning it was reading 11.0 L/100K and after an afternoon of WOT 13.4L/100k ... back in the day before mods/edit i'd give anyone $100 if they could get my car under 17L/100K driving around in the exact same fashion.
Also i dont know what you lot are complaining about! my car never fails to guzzle the 75 ltrs from the petrol station :( anyone wana swap cars? LoL

Hi, I'm a new Maloo owner and a bit dazed and confused about all the mods available.

Could you outline which ones you did to get that level of fuel economy? I'm always sitting on between 17 & 19L average and I'm not caning it everywhere...

Cheers, Buzz
