Hi Guys,

Are these wheels genuine Holden Monaro Wheels?

Also, how do I tell a 2003 Monaro CV8 from a CV8 R?

They're VY GTS wheels.

if they are originals then good stuff
if they are knockoffs i'd rather not have them

No, they are not Monaro wheels.

CV8R's only came out in unique colors. If you have a look on Carsales and search on Monaro you can see exactly what they look like. A 2003 CV8R was grey and a 2004 CV8R was red (different to the normal Monaro red). The colors did not come out on the normal CV8.

They have CV8R badging, different mags, extra accessories, white guages, the 2003 one had a shale interior the 2004 one had black interior with some red trim in the console and around the dash. There are other differences :yup:

CV8R, albeit with a VZ monaro bonnet : http://web.mac.com/teedub/iWeb/Site/Monaro%20CV8-R.html

Also came in red with red leather interior.

The search button would have answered you questions in a very short time frame. Might want to look into it.

sort of, they are off the HSV GTS - which is a (very) flashy monaro...

The ad that the photo is from is incorrect. It's just a cv8, not an cv8 R as advertised.

Cheers!

I thought that was the case, thanks for clearing that up.

Is there any way to tell if a rim is a genuine OEM rim or an aftermarket rim? Are there any markings indicating it is a Holden/HSV OEM Rim as opposed to a copy. On Ebay you can see most of the copies are different to the actual OEM design, but only very slightly.
Also - are OEM rims any stronger than aftermarket rims apart from their looks? Are they any more resistant to buckling...
