You need a minimum of 10 posts (constructive I might add).

Here's my 2cents ... we only ask that you make 10 posts first .... how hard is it to make 10 posts?
As for the first posters questions, you need to have made 10 posts before you can create a for sale thread of your own. You can still reply to existing for sale threads, but the posts are moderated before they appear

Unless you have a VE question theres nothing new to post, you have to use the search button, everything ever needed to be know is within the 511,195 post already posted

I think posts in the TarPit and Multimedia (and maybe others) forums dont go towards your post count.
Maybe try posting in the Technical sections.

Actually your post count is "4", read the FAQ as only certian forum sections count towards your post count. Click here for FAQ Entry on Post Counts (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/faq.php?faq=vb_read_and_post#faq_postcount)

yeah, its funny.
I'm a member of a digital slr camera site, and they have a 50 post rule before you can post in the "for sale" section. They have a lot more traffic than here, and I am struggling to make the count.
There's nothing that hasnt already been asked, and I don't have any constructive comments to make as i'm just a n00b ... so I couldn't meet the target.
I gave up at about 30 posts. Then whinged to a mod who felt my posts were of suitable quality to bend the rules.
But yeah, its only 10 posts here, might take you a little while, but you'll get there. I know how you feel though. Just trawl through the tar pit, and you'll work out who the jokers are and you can piggy back off their comments elsewhere with a "Yeah, I agree with NickS ... Ryzz is gay" comment or the like

Im finding it difficult to get 10 posts in the right sections too. The your ride section doesnt count?

That's right ... it used to be counted, but we had a lot of new users making 10 posts of "sweet car dude" in your ride threads, then immediately plastering their wares into the classifieds. If someone just wants to use the forum to sell stuff and nothing else, they can go make friends with Ebay instead.
In short, the 10 post rule was brought into effect because users were abusing the use of the forum classifieds, PM system etc. Certain sections were then removed from counting toward post totals because people were spamming in those sections to quickly get 10 posts.

This will change once I find a time based solution. Ie cannot post forsale ads or use PM's unless you have been a member for 1 month or something like that. But at the moment we only have post count to control this activity.

Personally i feel that would be a better solution. I noticed a validated member unable to reply to a PM yesterday as they had only posted in non tech sections.
I guess we can only blame the spammers for these rules.
.... if only i could find a decent way to stop the flood of spam to my email:bawl:
