Hi folks - hope you don't mind me posting as I'm really 555's dad, and it's my first time here

I'm posting because my pom son 555 has just arrived in Sydney from London and isn't hooked up to the Internet yet :vpo:

As this thread mentioned, he's looking for his first Clubsport: http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=59670&highlight=555

There's a late 2001 job in his price range but it's done 106,000k, and probably unserviced

So we'd really appreciate your advice on what a typical/official 100,000k service bill might be ( I see from other threads that quite a few things can start to fail at this time !)

And if you got a favourite garage for servicing in the Sydney area please give them a plug here !

Many thanks (from a Soarer V8 driving pom in the UK - only 4 litres ! )

Sonny at Marranos (www.marranos.com.au) does great work on both the regular stuff (servicing etc) as well as the performance side. Check his forum on here, many happy customers such as myself :)

Thanks Drewbytes - I'll tell 555 to give them a ring on Monday

100 000km isn't a major service on the Commodores/HSVs. A major service is done every 40 000km. Just got my 120 000km done at PT last week, cost $290. They did a brilliant job, runs a lot better now.

Thanks Alister - that's a big relief - feared we might be into big numbers. So no scary stuff like cambelt changes due around then ? - 555's dad

The LS1 does not have a cam belt mate, it's chain driven :yup:

Things you might be looking at in a Clubsport - bearing in mind it has harder suspension than a normal commodore and is reliant on good chassis bits for handling:

Bushes, especially semi-trailing arms but also front-end and shock-tower mounts.
Shocks - may have started to go 'off' in that time/distance
brakes - min. thickness.
Seals, especially engine

None of these are enormous-cost big-ticket items.

One advantage of the 'old' technology of the LS-motor is it shouldn't need opening until worn out at 300,000+km with normal care.
