Anyone know if Holden will release a Limited Edition Car as a Tribute to the great man...

im not sure. it could be taken a few diferent ways. some ppl will see it as a way of remebering a great man. others will se it as a way for holden to flog more VE's.

If they do it, it needs to be done in the same passion as brock did his cars in the past.

So in other words if they do Brock v6 VE commodores, alot of brock fans would be pretty peeved...

good point ... it has to be very special and VERY limited

if its not limited to very small numbers it'll be seen as a marketing thing

Dont think HSV would do one or should do one as they kinda cut brocks lunch with Holden after the whole polariser thing. Maybe Holden could build one car to comemorate him and disply it rather than sell it good P.R. as well

How about 50 only - will be like 05 backwards...

Would sell quicker than Krispy Kreme!

wouldn't it be more logical for HDT to make them?

I agree VH if HDT could do something I think it would be received well even brockys own guys they did a few commodores last year I think

You can all be CERTAIN that there wont be.
People will view it as a cynical marketing exercise, and they would know it...

Or even worse, the "Brock Pack" -> body kit, 17" wheels, spoiler, Peter Brock sticker and a sunroof - $4,000 value for only $1,500. :shiner:

Regardless, it won't happen. Maybe HDT will come up with something, but I seriously doubt Holden would bring out a Brock special edition.

Cheers,

They wont do a car, only respectful media advertising to celebrate the man's life.

Holden could make 50 flash v8 commodores, and donate all money raised to the peter brock foundation. This will create a very sought after vehicle, and no one will be able to say holden is cashing in on the tragedy.

I assume permission would have to be given from Peter's family as no matter how it is done at the end of the day Holden will be selling cars and making money due to using the Brock name.

I think they should offer a one off 'pack' which could be offered free of charge when purchasing a new VE V8 before the end of December. In other words, you order a new V8 you could option the 'pack' to your vehicle at no cost.

The other option is to charge cost price for the pack and then Holden donate the procedes to the Brock foundation.

I don't think it should be limited edition as the aim is not to make money from his name but rather remember him. If it ended up as something like 5000 Peter Brock 'live your dream' optioned Commodore V8's around I think it would be great. The more the merrier

The chances of the VE Supercar doing demo laps of Bathurst wearing the 05 number seems pretty high to me.

Both my son and I are in the process of putting "05Peter Brock" decals on our rear side windows on our VX S pac and VE SSV cars - Decals are being made up at present.

White decals - both cars are redhot red.
Just our way of appreciating PB

How about a one off show car based on the torana concept car done up with a V8 etc with the 05 number as a tribute?

imho lx406 has hit the nail on the head, build a limited no of cars, say fifty or whatever suits (one for every year of his life or for every championship round he raced or one for every holden dealer) and donate every profitable cent to the brock foundation, no profiteering from holden and some of us will have something extra special in the garage:bravo:

I'd been thinking along the same lines as some of the earlier posters - a limited run, maybe 200, with all profits/proceeds to the Brock Foundation. Ideally you'd have something like a different wheel design, special badging, special trim and maybe even some of the classic paint colours from the HDT era like Formula Blue and that dark red from the VL Group A could be offered.

Just what I have done... Simple and subtle but as you say, its my way of silently paying respect to the great man.

I had these custom made for my car and since then the Holden Car Club of SA (which I'm not a member of) has adopted them as a club sticker, with all proceeds going to the Peter Brock Foundation.

I am happy to pm or send what we had made up to anyone - unless someone can tell me how I can load it up for general use.

I don't think Holden will be "donating" 50+ cars where all proceeds go to the Brock Foundation, as good an idea as it is I don't think it will ever see light of day :(

To do it properly all cars will have to have Bilstein shocks, Momo wheels, Momo steering wheel and big bore exhaust, HSV can't even spec cars with this level of equipment

It's not this site censoring the images ya goose! :slap:
Imageshack are the ones disabling hotlinking

The only way this could be done without it appearing to be a tasteless use of the Brock name for profit would be to make 1 only Brock special car, and auction it off like they did with the last Monaro - with all proceeds going to the Brock Foundation

It would be great if the HDT guys (Pensini's) would work with Holden to do something. I don't think it would work if HDT tried it themselves, and its not really appropriate for HSV given the history.

Maybe they could have a "PB1000" edition, based on a V8 SS manual (no autos, and not an SS-V ... most of Brock's cars were lower spec based) with a distinct aero kit & wheels, lowered, Bilsteins, a decent exhaust, one off interior / trim with more contoured seating. HDT badges and a signature.

Is a run of 1000 cars to many? Donate number 1000 to the Brock Foundation for a raffle.

my 2c worth ........

After watching the "Billion Dollar Baby" I think that a limited edition V8 CalaisV would be a fitting tribute....Brock clearly shows his admiration for that model....But what extras can you put on a fully loaded car...maybe a LS2 engine with special engine covers and special steering wheel and one off colour scheme...

Cheers

I designed the above stickers and had them made up for myself.

The Holden Commodore Club of SA held a Peter Brock tribute cruise the other weekend, saw my sticker, and are now using it as a club sticker (i too am not a member of the club, but gave them all the details regarding the stickers and told them they could reprint and use them).

They are NOT the stickers on the link provided by Andrew, but if purchased through the Holden Commodore Club, all proceeds still go to the Peter Brock Foundation.

Cheers.

What about a new torana and tribute it to brock.

I'd love to see a Brock "Tribute Car", as long as it wasn't just another "sticker special", like some of the latest VZ HSVs! However, can't see HSV doing it, Holden-- maybe an upgraded SSV, but I don't think so, & no, HDT couldn't do anything--they simply don't have the credibility.
So, I don't think it will happen.
Cheers, Pickles.
