View Full Version : Hpf Ve Mafless 2 Bar Tune
VX SS

Pretty stoked HPF are first again my VE SSV tuned and running on a full 2 bar Mafless tune on my new VE.
When we ran the car at Calder last Friday we were running with the MAF, this week Marty the Legend worked out the system and tables and now the car fully operates on a 2 bar system.
We took the car out yesterday for a days development work at Heathcote for durability testing that went extremely well.
At the end of the day we decided to lean on the car harder with the drag radials our first warm up run was a 11.4 @128 mph the second run was to go for it unfortunately we broke the drive shaft and decided to bring it home.
Wonder if I can get a warranty replacement.

So, you broke "the" drive shaft ? Is that correct or did you mean "a" drive shaft. Just wondering because I broke the tail shaft in my VX a few years back. It fractured next to the weld at the front most yoke weld. It was 3 days out of warranty and after Holden gave me a bit of stick about giving the car a hard time, they replaced it at no charge.
I'd still like to know what else is done to the car though, sounds very nice.

Ahhh got ya, I got all excited then, I already priced a VE SS last weekend but couldnt decide on whether to continue modding the clubbie or upgrade to a brand new model, after seeing 11.4 @ 128mph (what I thought was just a mafless tune) I was almost scrambling for the phone to confirm the purchase!

ooops. The single turbo makers go twins, the twins go back to single. Its hard to keep up with the speed these guys are developing these kits. Regardless, looks like it performs VERY well. I see a L76 has done 329rwkw cam only these days too, the poor LS1 is on the obsolete pile these days.

Voodoo its not hard to keep up at least HPF develop and test there own products. The original plan was for a twin turbo system but the new VE platform is more suited to a single than a twin system.
Its been proven that a well designed single system will work just as well as a twin.
The system is a quality built product using proper designed and fabricated pipes not flexible hoses. The turbo is well protected above the chasis line you will have noticed that HPF have retained all the existing plastic intake systems and covers for the stealth look. You can see this in the attached image it is missing the engine cover but this will go back on, also the blue connection pipes will be changed to black.

HPF still have there twin turbo system for the VT/VZ range which I personally beleive is the best system on the market.
One thing I learnt early in life cheapest isnt always the best

We actually snapped the drive shaft clean off just before the wheel coupling,
it was a clean break highly unusual

:bawl: Yes if mine shat itself I'd be buying a crate L76.
I love that pict of the engine bay. Pure stealth :bravo:

128mph is insaine!! well done all involved!
Why is the single more suited to the twins?

I aint here to put any spin on this, or feed you rubbish its a well known fact that HPF has the most experience and was the first company to install and run twin turbo kits on LS1 and LS2 motors long before anybody else.
We selected a single turbo system because we could with correct sizing off the equipment it will perform, this has been shown many times over by many other suppliers.
HPF selected the single turbo system on a VE as it is a much cleaner install less components and simpler. The whole approach was to keep it looking stealth, I beleive they have acheived this HPF havent claimed anything HPF have delivered with power graphs and track times.
HPF already make twin turbo kit from a LS1/LS2 which most of the components would have fitted to the VE any way,
Like any modification being a twin or single turbo regardless off motor it is how you set it up and tune it.
