Nothing to do with flat tyres. Just wondering if anyone in the motorcycle community has heard of , or uses a particular type of tie down called a " tyre down" ? It basically uses a system where a moulded metal frame is pulled tight down over the rear tyre of the bike to a trailer. Therefore not needing any hooks over handle bars and potential fairing damage from regular tie-downs. Any info appreciated.

I have no experience with them myself, but this site has a bit about them...

I have been using one of these since they released them and so far no probs at all, coped with the weight of an 01 ZX-6R and an 05 ZX-10R on many a trip to Phillip Island for track days ;)

I also team it with one of the cross handlebar ties at the front, the guys selling the tyredowns reckon it will work on its own but they are a lot more confident than me

If only they made one that fitted both road and dirt bikes! Its a bit rich having to buy two.

Hey gjohnson,

They're a good thing, my shop stocks them. Retails for $159 road, or $109 dirt. If you need any info let me know.

Cheers,

Benyam.
