I have to replace my evaporative air conditioning unit and am after comments from any members that have a Brivis unit.
I have had the Breezair units in the last 4 houses so know them well, but have not had a Brivis unit before. The two quotes I have places the Brivis about $450 cheaper than the Breezair.
Thanks in advance

We used to be the deaer fr them in SA, honestly theyre not a bad unit, make sure you get a contour model not the profile, the contour has the weather seal and the aquasave and network controler.
The only bad thins I could say about them now (now I have to sel against them) is that they are made from a lot thinner injection moulded plastic then the breeair (the brezair is more sturdy) the brivis will flex a fair bit if you push the thing in but that is not a major problem, but their after sales service work sucks, we would find that they woud go out to perform warrenty work and try and find loop holes so as not to perform it (would find fault with the install and refuse to fix he unit unil he fault is rectified by the installer) even if the fault had nothing to do with the problem but that was the service guys here so hopfully they are better over there, I mean for sure get the installer back to rectify their mistake but at least the technition can get your unit running so you can have at least some releaf in summer. I also found that the brivis was usually dearer but I never compared them to the brezair, just ensure your getting the the contour and your geting 50mm polyester firebreak ducting not 25mm. Personnally Im not a fam of the breezair as I belive it uses od technology of the drum fan but that is only my personal opinion and have no data to back up my feelings. What ever way you go good luck but hopefuly Ive given you ome info to make the right descion

Toddler78 thanks for your imput. The unit quoted is a Brivis Advance F43D in Terra-red. That's the other issue, the breezair unit comes with the terracotta colour which will match the existing "dead" Cool Breeze unit up there for colour, where as the Brivis is a darker colour from the brochure.
Also it will be on a 2 storey house and we get savage easterly winds here in summer time so your comment about the brivis flexing a fair bit concerns me.
The other thing is the brivis unit is 13kW and the Breezair is 14.4kW. So in LS1 terms I'd have to go the Breezair for the sheer power boost I'll get... :lmao: Maybe forced induction will help too.... :yup:
I'll see what else others who may have the units will say.
Cheers
JK
P.S. What do you sell now Toddler78 ?

I have had Brivis units in the past over in Melbourne (they are widely sold over there, only getting a hold in the market here), I have never had a problem with them. I have never had cause to make a warranty claim so maybe what Toddler78 says could be worth noting.
I now have a "cheap-as-s*!t" cool breeze unit (the builder threw it in), it cops heaps of wind from the West (I am near Mandurah), never had a problem with it but the unit isn't 12 months old yet, I will see how it goes through summer.
Basically. if the Brivis is a good saving I'd go for it, just give the dropper a paint to match and you wouldn't tell the difference.

If it is the Brivis contour it is well worth it John. The Brivis contour is outstanding in the three years I sold them we had very very few waranty issues not to mention the performance of them they don't dump 20-30 litres of water every hour like some they have a water purifier system and a machanical blade system that opens when turned on instead of a spring loaded weather seal that uses 10% of the motor's power just to keep the flap open, the fan is also mounted directly to the motor so no power is lost turning belt drives etc they come with a excellent 3yr waranty with a further 2 years givin if Brivis do a 3 yr service.

Daz,
The unit quoted is an Advance Series (square box not angle shaped to the pitch of the roof).
With the advance they don't have to change the dropper and other items.
You're trying hard aren't you Daz ????? :yup: :yup: :yup:
I sell and install a lot of different brands and Im not tied to any. Mate I would go with the profiler they now come standard with the aquasave and you can get a networker if you want but really your paying for novelty value with the networker unless you also have a brivis ducted heater. They also come with a winter seal now. While the winter seal on the profiler is not as good as the winter seal on the contour. As far as flex goes we had a mini hurricane down here a couple of years ago and none of the brivis' I installed around the area hardest hit were damaged or came apart. Only drama is that when they fit it they'll have to fit a new dropper as the angle is diffrerent thats probably why they quoted you an advance as these go in vertically Profiler and Contour go in at 23 degrees. As for size what ever theyve quoted you go one size up I always do so it parts your hair :yup:

JHP1 - I have a dead Cool Breeze unit (that was on there when we bought the house 12 months ago) up there. Just want to replace the unit so that is hwy the Advance was quoted for the Brivis unit as it is not contoured to the roof.
It has the winter seal on it.
I am wondering about the 13kW motor and whether I should go for the 15.4kW unit. The guy that came around suggested the 13kW unit and I shouldn't go too big, the ducting will restrict the airflow...
Also the price quoted is with the Network Controller.
Thanks
JK
Yes the ducting size will restrict the airflow to a point but the velocity will increase. Id still go with the next one up the 15kw. Always better to have some up your sleeve for when its stinking hot

The profiler and the contour are exactly the same in every way even the way the weather seal opens(mechanically) the only difference is the aquasave which only comes on the contour as standard.
As far a the unit flexing I probably painted a bad picture this is only my opinion but if you have a plastic coolbrezze then the thickness and flex of the plastic cabinet is the same so you will be able to see for yourself, if you do live in a high wind area the brivis is the better one to go for because of the mechanical weatherseal, it will not flap open when the unit is off and in high wind areas.
I would personally get the dropper replaced I quote it as standard on all of my jobs, this is what holds the unit to the house if this is rusted in any way you will lose strength in the fixture (I have quoted on insurance jobs where the unit has blown off the roof of the house) it is only about $150 more. Also the coolbreeze droppers have a 25mm fold and flaten top dropper where as the brivis' have a 5mm turn out top dropper (different and will not neccesarrily fit straight on) I would not go the advance series if you go brivis, it is effectivly no better than the breezair and in my opinion worst, the AD series unless they have changed it in the last year is a counter weight weather seal not mechanically driven and a float and dump valve configeration not aquasave, either go the Contour or a lesser extent profiller if you go brivis or stick the breezair in. as far as the KW ratings go between the units in really neither here nor there, the differece is approx 10sq meters. and the comment of the ducting being restrictive is right, at worst case scenrio only go up one size YES the velocity will increase but this will only increase the turbulance and the noice not the performance, you will find you only run the unit on 50% power rather then 75% power (it will cost the same to run regardless) in LS1 terms imagine having a TTLS1 or a stock one and having fixed speed cameras at every 100metres the TT has so much more potential but you cant use it-so why spend the extra money. my 2 cents worth.
AD series (advance) can be ordered with counterweighted winter seal its a seperate peice, the P series (profiler) comes with a counterweighted weather seal that is affixed to the lower box section of the unit the profiler has for the last 2 months and will continue to come with aquasave as standard, the the L series (contour) has the motorised damper which is far superior to the other two. Id get a new dropper as said before they do rust old ones especiaally as theyre usually gal not colourbond and go for the profiler best value for money in my opinion. :yup:

Thanks for your advice guys, I've emailed the guy to see if he can re-quote based on a new dropper, L43 Contour unit and Network Controller.
I'll see how that compares and if he can do it.
Cheers again :bravo:

Thanks for your help people, I had a Brivis L43 Contour with Network Controller on Monday. Excellent install job and also scored an additional 2 year warranty so now a total of 5 years. Ended up paying to replace the dropper, the original was 16 years old so probably a good move.
Bring on the hot summer now......
Thanks especially to Daz for the tip off on the contact for the install.
Oh, and $80 for you now Daz.....:headbang:
