Guys

Heading down to the coast now for Christmas, and was wondering if anyone knew of any cheap (but decent) little car hire mobs. Looking at going a week (flying in to Brisbane on the 24th and out on the 31st).

Can anyone recommend someone they have used.

Not off the top of my head, but if you catch the train from the airport (to the coast) the car hire mobs are a dime a dozen around Surfers...depends what you're after.

Yeah but buy the time you pay for train travel and then taxi to the car hire mobs, you may as well hrie in Brisbane. Would prefer to hire in Brisbane.

You're best bet if travelling in by plane is just to hire from the airport. I always use either Thrifty or Avis when I'm in Sydney, so I'd imagine they'd be equally ok up here.

There is a new mob called red spot I think, I tried to get a car from them the other day and all cars are taken, use the websites to guage costs there is a HUGE difference..

www.needitnow.com.au is good to get an idea of who is around...But TRUST me the prices quoted are NOT cheap, but you can then look up the direct car company and get a much better deal. I just hired a XR6 for the weekend for about 50 bucks a day which I thought was a rather good deal.

I have used Avis out of Brisbane Airport about a million times ... always easy, never had a problem.

Have also used Europcar & Thrifty out of Brisbane Airport but not as much, both were also fine the few times I have used them.

CarHire.com.au compares all the prices from Avis, Budget, Hertz, Thrifty, Europcar etc....

They even guaranteed me the cheapest price.

I tested and Audi A6. no V8 but still Very nice :-)

Been there twice and used Abel car hire.

Nice and cheap........Nissan Tida........29 bucks a day. Not as good as the Gen 3 but enough to get around and cheap on fuel.

Pick up from Airport to base....have been hassle free both times.
