Congrats on the new ride. I had an Across for my first bike and only lost 800 bucks in 2 years. I don't think you can go wrong paying 2K for yours.
In regards to gear, I've always found MCA at Liverpool and Parramatta have the bestest bargins on riding gear so you may want to give them a try.
Have fun tagging that 17000rpm redline!
