Good day guys, Just want some opinions on the red hot leather option interior on the new GTS. I had the salesman call me today to finalize the options and to this stage I was getting the onyx trim but now I am swaying towards the red hot. The car will be sting red with every other option available. I thought the onyx might wear better but after seeing the redhot in the flesh, it looks unreal.I know the red will show more marks but I have to make a decision REAL soon.

I went fo the Onyx; I thought I would get sick of the red interior inside a week if I had to live with it, but each to their own!
Good luck, their an awesome car and I can't wait to get mine in a few weeks!

If I was ordering one with black exterior I would definitely go with the red interior as a contrast but otherwise I'd stick with the onyx. Just my 2c.

I personally think that all the color combos look fine.
The black with black int.
The black with redhot int.
The red with black int.
The red with redhot int.
They all look awsome but you have to make a choice:bravo:

After soo many years of plain ole black and grey from the manufactures I know that I'd definately be going the colour option if I was in your shoes.
Amazes me how many conservative people there are out there.

I had a blue leather interior on my VXII Clubby ... it was a novelty that wore off. IMO you can't beat a nice black interior, ages well and always look classy.
Although, I agree with Vulture, black exterior with a red interior would look sensational, otherwise I'd stick with the Onyx. Especially if you have kids :bawl:

If the interior trim was ALL red, then yes, I'd stay away from it, but the optional red trim comprises only red INSERTS in the doors, seats & dash, so you have contrasting red/black, which I reckon breaks up the solid black, & which I think is the way to go-looks fantastic I reckon--but as others have said-it's your choice!
Cheers, Pickles.

I have ordered the red paint with the red leather option on my GTS.
I currently have a yellow paint with yellow leather GTO and it is a colour combo that always makes me smile!
Onyx is too sombre, go the red, much more exciting and different to all the other stuff out there!

Go the Red, it's out there, but a GTS isn't the most subtle car on the road.
I've got blue leather in my Monaro and I love it

I went for Black interior instead of the red.
My reasons:
1. Red duco with big splashes of red inside were too much. If the red interior option wasn't on the dash, confined to seats only, like Audis etc, I might have done it.
2. Black is still a nice change from the numerous "Dark grey" leather options I've had.
3. The biggie, I could get my GTS in less than two weeks with Black interior, and no sunroof but months wait for anything else... Now THAT made the choice easy.
I've seen a Black VE GTS with Red interior option and that did look GOOD !!
Whatever you choose, good luck !!

I reckon the black leather interior would suit a red car better, but if you had a black car then the red leather interior would look better. Also I once test drove a Silver BMW 3 series with red leather and that just looked awesome, but red on red I think is too much red.

Not a VE, but the Monaro is Redhot with red interior, and I still love it three years later!
I find the black interiors too plain after a week.....

Pickles, your quite right,if it was all red interior it might be a bit much, but it is only the inserts and highlights that are red. It really does look better in the flesh.:deal:

Get to look at black VE interiors every day at work, and just like Monaro's, VZ's, and any other car I care to mention, they are just all....Black....
Translation: Bland after a week.
The red is very nice but talk to your salesman if you option red trim you might find yourself waiting a LOT longer for the car.
Unfortunatly the red trim is harder for a dealer to supply than black.

My car is going to be a factory order anyhow, with an allocated build date of JAN 07.It will be fully optioned and I allways knew there was going to be a wait.I just have to finalize the color trim so we can get allocation at the factory.:)

Maybe I'm missing something or haven't looked enough, but I didn't think that non-HSV VE's have a "Black" option, Onyx is very different to Black, and yes, Onyx can get a bit bland after a while, as so many cars have it as a standard...e.g. my last four vehicles (2 x Honda, Audi and Holden) but BLACK is a very different story. Took delivery of my Red GTS with Black leather interior today and it looks the goods. Hopefully I'll have pics up over the weekend, if I can stop driving it long enough.
HSV..... I just GOT one !! WooHoo !!

Onyx is what we are referring to as "black". You may prefer to call it "very dark grey".
There is the ivory colour on some models that I can't recall what they label it as right now, but Onyx (for VE) and Anthracite (for VY/VZ) are the factory "black" colours.
Many are quite happy with the monotone interior colours, but (my opinion) I see them every day in "black", and they just end up being sort of "whatever"......
The coloured seats and lower dash sections really break up the interior of VY/VZ/VE. I'm still not sure I like the coloured top sections of the (optional) ignition SS-V dash though.
Have you wondered why the vast majority of cloth seat trims have a fair amount of colour through them?

IMHO I like red....my last 2 cars were red (Sting red and Milanoa Red)....but red inetrior would be hard to live with.....just my opinion. I'm sure whatever you buy you will love.

My thoughts exactamundo, had the CV8ZED with black int and it was nice but the GTO with red int is a real standout, although there's no red on the dash just black/carbon fibre, red on dashes is too much imo.
