Hi guys,

Well I've posted a few pics of my car around some other areas and thought I
would consolidate them to here :)

I fitted the Billet Oil and P/S Caps today, they look pretty good..
They are from CAPA and I ordered them over the phone.

Well I dropped into Chev's Autos this morning and had a really good chat with Gary. His Blown VY Clubby R8 is really sweet. Anyway after chatting a while we threw my beast onto the Dyno to get a readout from a completely stock perspective.

I will post the results under Chev's Autos Sponsor section once I scan it, but it ran 224.0 RWKW and 545NM Torque.

We also threw it up on the hoist and had a good look underneath. The undercarrage is really different over previous models. I will post some pics up when I get them ;)

Anyway just thought I'd share the love:love2:

Gary was really helpful and enthusiastic in which I was impressed with.

Where did you get the car lowered and what springs are they. i talked to a holden dealer yesterday and he said hsvi dont do lowered springs. i was skeptical till he showed me their hsvi pricing booklet with all the hsvi options in it and no mention of lowering on any model.
Not trying to have a dig at you so dont take it the wrong way. Im really impressed with your car and the height looks perfect.
Top choice looks great in White.:bravo:

G'day, yeah they are red which = pedders. When I first posted that i got a bit of a mislead. Wasnt till i threw it up on the hoist and checked it out that I worked it out. It's a great height, although its hard not to scrape the front bumper sometimes.

Has gone back into Holden today to replace leaking rear shock, centre speaker, and a few little other things.

Have to say they gave me a sweet loan car - HSV GTO with 560kms on it :)

Were you driving through Sth Melb yesterday (around the Crown Casino)? If not it was someone else with a White SS, Racing Strips and the same wheels.

Yeah that was probably me.. I work in Collins St :)

Verdict after driving around the GTO for a day (Auto).. I like it.. I don't love it. I really think the VE is a nicer drive. I feel like im sitting up really high in the Coupe even with the seat at its lowest point.

It feels fast, but only when the foot is planted but then it needs a few more miles on it to loosen up. Brakes on the GTO feel really really nice.

I reckon the VE's ABS kicks in too early..not sure what others think but after driving this coupe I can really notice the difference in braking.

**Exhaust Update** :p

Hey all, just a quick update with a few pics. Had this new CAT back system fitted today.
After lots of research and talking to some forum sponsors and
mates in the exhaust business I've ended up getting a new Power Sound
system. These are made in Adelaide and have only just been released. It's a
2 & 1/2" full stainless system. I watched the guys unpack it and bolt it on
and there were no adjustments needed. Bolt on/Bolt Off!

Have not done a lot of driving with it, basically enough to get all the oil and
crap out of it (lol someone thought my car was on fire at one set of lights)

I'm really really happy with the note and I can definately feel performance
gains through the low-mid range. Bit of a nice burble through the down
changes and a nice crisp sound. I will be heading to Chev's Auto's sometime
soon for a dyno run and Tune hopefully so will post figures once i've been.

Manufacturer states 18RWKW Gain.. dunno but Dyno run will tell.

The rear mufflers and tips look nicer too (even though I like the orgininal tips)
Cheers ;)

Well since the Cat Back, I've added a Delco CAI, Air Intake Mod and the X-Force 4 into 1 Stainless headers.. Have 20 thousand k's on the clock now and it just keeps getting better.

The Big Rob mod applies to any CAI and just gets more cold air in to filter. I've had it done and my CAI is not the Delco one.

Already done matey, best run was a 265kw's @ Rear.. Car feels nice to drive and im still getting around 13.8 l/100k's on average. As mentioned on another post 107.7MPH over the qtr mile is a good indication that the Tune has certainly helped thanks to Sonny and Chev :)

Well I picked up the HSVi 20's today from RacePaint.. The guys have done a brilliant job and I think they look absolutely awsome. They are exactly the finish I was after..

They have been done in a chrome shadow finish. Basically the rims get rubbed back, then a high gloss black is applied, followed by a few layers of
'House of Kolor' Shadow Chrome, then some clear to finish it off.

Will put some pics up later with them on the car.. thanks again to Titanium (Pete) for lending me his wheels whilst they were getting done.

I would have to say, next to VE GTS 20's these are just the ultimate looking wheel bling.

Saw them today and got a chubby and they look absolutley blardy fantastic, one has the tyre on now and it looks the ducks nuts.

Being involved in Curtis's process of getting these painted for the last 4 weeks it was apparent that this look was going to be no easy task, actually getting someone to do it (with balls) and stand by the quality was a big concern.

Anyway ... 4 different sets of wheels in 4 weeks ....... glad I could help out ....

Oh yeah, BTW, Bridgestone in Fitzgerald Rd, Derrimut VIC Have a new tyre machine than can take up to 24's and any componant that is in contact with the rim is now rubber, looks a nice machine.

Take all your SS badges etc back to the wheel painters for the same color job, stick in HID's and it's a real Black and White Minstral Show. looks good.

great looking machine, just a few questions. I will be placing my order for a SS-V soon and if its not to personal how much was the HSVi suspension and what did it include? also, i have a set of rims that i would like sprayed in a simalar colour, what did it cost to get them done?

JK price is around $200 per wheel. Mainly due to their being a fair bit of work in this finish. Also the Chrome Shadow Paint is blardy expensive.

Im basically just running with the Pedders springs. Price for rims as per above.

Just an update.. Since last post I have put in the GM Race Ripshifter and it feels great.
No more missing 3rd gear thats for sure.. Much shorter shift and less notchy than the standard one.

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/VE-SS_2006/rip5.jpg

Also fitted some SSV tail lights on today as the darker projector style seems to suit the
theme of the car a lot nicer. Has pretty much finished off the look I was after.
Thanks to Wonky for sourcing them for me ;)

Yep straight out swap. The SSV lights come with the globes and everything. Took about 15 Minutes to do both sides. phillips head screw driver..thats it ;)

Just a quick update..

Given the poor performance of the stock VE clutch I now have a new clutch and and also the 3.7 HSV Diff.. Difference is very noticable with the diff and how the car seems to pick up and respond in each gear.

The clutch is the same setup as they run in the LS7 Corvette and also has the fidanza alloy flywheel. No more clutch going to the floor and I now have the confidence to test it out properly at the strip.

Big thanks to Chev and Rob at Chevs Performance for fitting it all and also to Titanium (Pete) for supplying the parts :)

Next mod is to probably swap out the CSV DTI and out on the Orrsom VE OTR. I find the CSV DTI picks up a LOT of dirt and will also cater for when the car goes Maffless. I also think it is a better looking unit..

Howdy peeps, CSP there are some pics under chevs sponsors section on the RIP install .. http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=87526

Clutch is going well so far, no shudder or sticking and I'm used to the feel. I like.:)

I have to spend some time and invest in some rear end traction and tramp issues, im not happy with how it carries on lol. Some aftermarket rear bushes and shockies should help based on some threads around.

My brother emailed me a few pics from the cruise for charity last year that he came across. Pretty sharp images, I was impressed with the quality.

Just a bit of an update.. Had the Diff checked out by Holden and their guys reckon the LSD is within the 120Nm tolerance of slippage.. From what i can gather the 3.7 setup in not particularly strong as far as LSD goes and that it seems common these things are single spinning at times.

Anyway I dropped into John's Bridgestone franchise in Oakleigh today for a g'day.. At Chevs last Sat we discussed his wheels and my wheels.. so during the lunchbreak we did a quick swap to see how the 22's would look.

These are 22" Verde, same width as current setup. Picture quality is not great as I was using my mobile phone camera.. but gives an idea.. I was actually suprised at how good they looked and that 22" in this rim does not look HUGE.
