Mate

I would be looking on Carsales.com.au to gauge the private market prices. As for auctions, not sure many are around. Best to do a search to find out who in here deals with the auctions and then ask them the right questions...

well a good mate of mine just gave his away to a holden yard last week for $40,000  as he was unsuccessful at selling it here in Adelaide privately.

DETAILS OF HIS CAR:
it was a 04'
7000 km on the clock
twin 2 1/2 exhaust(stainless) with pacemakers (coated)
cold air
black duco (not a mark on it and always garaged with a car cover)
leather interior
lowered (pedders)

unfortunatly i didnt think to advertise it on the forum for him :hmmm:

Seeing a fall in the *advertised* private sale prices and there's plenty to look at, I also follow the public auctions a little where to be honest you dont see that many.

Note from Pickles recent thread on GTO prices...

Redbook says about $40-45K private sale SIII, or about $37-41 trade.

Selling one with 'extras' is actually a bit pointless. Better to put the stock stuff on, then sell your bits or keep for the next one.

S/h prices dropped a bit due to petrol spiking. Should stabilise even if they don't recover.

Mark2One would be the one I would be speaking too. Although in Brisbane, he would still offer great advice.

Gee, how long is a piece of string? This subject comes up periodically.
However, my choice would be a good, low k, totally original Series 111, which has a lot of various small improvements over earlier models.
I'd be looking for mileage under 30k, should be as new, & I'd be prepared to pay up to about $42k, for the right car. Obviously you can get an earlier car, or a higher k car for less.
Cheers, Pickles.

Check Carsales or Redbook as mentioned. There are so many colours, both inside and out, manual or auto, km's done, all that...
Some are far more desirable than others, and the price will vary relative to that.
Best to check it out this way.

That depends on weather you're buying or selling:hide:

Not really, when you consider what's in them is the same level as a similar-costing Calais. Almost nothing rear of the firewall and above the floorpan is the same as any other Holden. And because they were hand-assembled by the better crews they seem in general to be a bit better put together than the run-of-the-mill car. Certainly the way the doors open and close is very 'un-Holden like'.

The way they handle and steer is also a tad above a standard 4-door due to the lower height and weight, more compact body and revised steering rack.

Actually, Monaros weigh a bit more then the sedans including Calais'.

Interesting, I thought Series 1 - 111 were said to weigh less then the sedan. 1640 vs 1700 odd

To this day, there still aint no Holden that looks as good as the 2 door and whilst Holden aint building any 2 doors anytime soon, I think the current prices are fair value.

IMO ;)

Brother just bought 04 series 3 -totally standard, auto, Monaro $36k. 50km's. Looks as new. You have to be very quick for ones like this and sometimes willing to travel (got his from Syd). He missed 2 b4 this 1. Both of those were around $40k with similar km's. Vz's go up a bit in price from this. (At least now he can afford to put some quick bits on it that he wouldn't have been able to if he got Vz). Just keep looking. Hope this helps. Goodluck!
