Press Release - Holden Special Vehicles today announced October 2006 as a record month for the high performance car company.

More than 490 retail deliveries were registered in Australia and New Zealand in October, well above the previous monthly record of 436 (December 2004).

Managing Director Phil Harding said the result was a vote of confidence in HSV following a fantastic E series launch and the excellent performance of the exclusive HSV dealer network.

“With 491 retail deliveries in October, we have sold 55 more vehicles than our next best month ever”, Phil Harding said.

“Demand is set to continue based on incoming orders. October was also a record month for production, with 515 cars dispatched to dealers. We have increased production by 50% to keep pace with demand".

“Year to date deliveries now stand at 2632. Our performance this year is exactly to plan, with an orderly run down of production and the sale of outgoing models, followed by a rapid and controlled ramp up of the exciting new E Series”, Harding said.

Mr Harding said HSV was receiving tremendous traffic through dealerships from both its loyal customer base and new buyers.

“I am particularly pleased with the level of interest from ‘Euro’ owners”, Harding said.

“We’re seeing owners of premium European models switching across to the E series based on the extraordinary value, level of performance and high-end specifications across all three vehicles”.

Phil Harding said HSV were continuing to show real leadership in the high performance niche vehicle segment with solid sales performances year after year, setting the standard for performance, technology and value.

“This early local success gives us great confidence for the overseas export potential of both the E series and other vehicle opportunities”, Harding said.

Not surprised - just seen the first boat load landed at the local dealer. All pre sold as is anything before xmas. They havent been able to keep one aside as a demonstrator. I suppose you dont need to to while sales are strong.

My VZ looks very dated compared to these machines. You are going to love stepping out of a VY into your new R8

Yes, with Sydney dealers finally able to match interstate dealer VZ pricing by using 'runout' as the excuse, I'll bet there was a lot in that number that were VZ.

3 months ago at Wakelings, they had a '06 R8 sedan drive away for $63k (still too expensive with the 'E' approaching) & a second hand '05 R8 not 30 metres away with between 10-20,000kms on the clock for $62k.....

Drugs......or relying on errant stupidity from a potential owner.

There will be some super bargains on the (probably few) '06 VZ's still sitting in yards come January.........

This is not meant to be a superscillious question, but is the VZ ls2 2005 model really that bad?? Or is this VE enthusiasm just euphoria associated with a doubtless excellent VE model. Eg is the VZ R8 that much worse in driver enjoyment and road handling compared to a VE clubsport. Has anyone actually driven both as an owner.

Good question.

VE (in R8 form) is apparently great, all the susp changes have had a fantastic effect in stopping the VT-VZ series habit of destroying it's front outer tyre edges & consequently improving road holding accordingly.

GTS with the Mag susp is another (better) world apparently.

10kw on the donk you won't notice, but the VE supposedly has it all over the VZ from a drivers perspective. Improved gearbox / clutch feel too (it needs it !).

Don't forget that there will be a few '06 plated VE's come January that will be burning a hole in a dealer's wallet.....

Bottom line - I love my VZ & the lease isn't up for another 2 years - will revisit then after the 'bugs' are ironed out of VE & I've investigated the possibilty of re-financing the residual on the VZ along with a GenTT, a Tex & a suspension makeover..........

The funny thing about this is, That most of the sales (well majority) are made up here north qld to 20-40yr olds who work in the mines and have money to throw away on brand new ve gts and the likes... i know a guy up here had 7 cars and his 7th lives at the dealers house cos he doesnt have any room to put it :) VZ CV8R

Strange. Local dealer here has two VE HSVs in the showroom. GTS and a Clubby. Been there since launch, haven't moved an inch.

yep, the agony of decsion for next car purchase, ah the pain, the pain, like a hyena i smell the blood letting on the VZ, but the temptation like uncovered meat from the VE is irresistable....:driving:
