Is your VU Already a manual, if so there is not that much point in changing the g/b. Runs very similar if not the same ratios. Might be a little stronger though, that being said i havnt heard of to many people killing the T56 with some grunt going through them.

yer it is a manual, however the box is very dead, had a half engaging clutch and couldnt change it for a while driving like that has fkd the box, so yer had to be replaced. someone said they are like running 3.7 diff gears? anyone else comment on this, and also does anyone really know if the box will bolt straight in or all assumptions like i had untill now.

The M12 box as fitted to VZ Monaro and HSVs has lower 1-2-3 and 5,6 gears. Fourth is direct 1:1 So it should be snappier off the mark, and pull top (0.73 I think instead of 0.5:1) better. They supposedly had better/more synchros on the low gears for snappier shifts. I don't think it would be like having 3.7 gears, but moving off the mark with 3.46s should be easier.

My bet is it will basically bolt up except the clutchplate spline may be different. You would need to get a Holden or Repco parts person to check for a different part number between VZ Monaro and VZ SS. Might be worth fitting a better shifter, too.
