My boss recons he will beat me in a drag, and wants to put a decent wager on it.(Read $1000:yahoo: ) I have a VX SS Edited 220RWKW Auto vs his sisters VX R8 Manual Stock as HSV intented.
He's an old guy and keeps going on how good it goes to told him we'll have a drag. He wants to do a rolling start at say 40KPH as he thinks the launch with the manual will screw him:burnout: .
How do you think i will fair.
We are working where their is a small air strip so we will do it there:yup: , no point doing on the road and he couldn't be stuffed going to Calder.

I know my edited VX SS launches real hard from 40kph as it bangs back to 1st...
I guess it just depends if the Clubby really is stock....

I think the VX R8's were 255kW from memory? If that's the case then I think you'll roll him in with ease.
Make sure you put a big sign across your rear window with "TOLD YOU" written on it for good measure :D

I know of a black VX SS auto with 225rwkw punches out a 13.3 with a 2.2 60. I think youve got yourself a nice grand in the hand mate.

Yep, VX R8's are 255KW stock. I had mine dyno'd a couple of years ago and it was 200 rwkw, completely stock. No point comparing that with anything though, as different dynos produce different readings.
I've been told by someone that would know that the R8 tune is about the same as what you'd get with a good mail order MAF tune. One thing helping a stock standard manual R8 is their diff's have 3.7 gears. :burnout:

is he car savy?
if yes, then be very careful, cause that stock vx might not be so stock, and he knows it.
if not, then with your figgures, you will take him, a stock vx cluby would produce around 190rwkw

you'll win. I raced a mate to 100km/h in his tuned VX SS and my stock R8, got beat badly.

Good luck but who ever wins I dont think there will too much difference, my question is about a 6l vz clubby? how many rwkw are they pushing because they are 297kw standard if Im not mistaken. I raced one only for a short distance, dont know whether he was stock. My is a VXSS 238rwkw, auto, really sh!t tyres too much wheel spinning. Anyway of the line I kept up with him for about 80m, he was pulling away slightly, I backed off as we were reaching high speeds in a 60km zone, he kept going. So to keep the story short he won, well done to him. The noise of 2 v8s roaring down the road caused alot of heads to turn:yahoo:

Why do i feel this is another my dick is bigger than yours thread, but the race will never really happen, especially when we start talking about your boss borrowing his sisters car to race you on an airstrip but only if you roll start it to make it easy for him:hmmm:

Does your boss want to race me? Ive got an ancient auto LS1, should be no drama for a HSV, especially a manual.

With an off the shelf 2.5 twin exhaust, pod filter and the standard 255kw HSV tune my Clubsport is 205rwkw. If his is stock then you should beat him.

You with an auto and 220 rwkw would waste a stock M6 R8. At 40kph he'll be launching in 2nd gear at relatively low revs, the auto should kick back to 1st - you'll be a car or two ahead in no time.

wouldnt it be more beneficial to shift the auto into 1st and by 40kph u should have some decent revs dialled up. i think you'll toast him

Ha Ha that is true, I have to give in to "ford is better" arguments with my bosses. I have to put up with being called "dunnydore" driver all day long

The edited SS will win for sure, but he can still use 1st at 40kph and he will pull hard to about 65kph then he will go for 2nd. When he has to change he will lose time and if you end up getting to 3rd gear, if its not his car he will more than likely miss it. :driving: :cussing:

I would be careful with a rolling start as having only 4 gears in the auto it can be surprisingly easy to get caught in the wrong gear. Tell him a proper race is from a standing start. No need to introduce unknowns. He either does it fair and square or not at all. Tell him to practice his launches if he is so worried.
