Hey all,

Im getting sick of my brakes not really performing the way i would like them too. I want to be able to hit the pedal and have confidence in the setup. What would be an acceptable budget for a upgraded system. Im not talking $5000+ cos i aint that rich but i would like to know what a reasonable street setup would cost and what it comprises. Any feedback on your setup would be great.

Cheers

For normal street use that is HEAPS better than stock and can also take a few 200kph poundings about $500 should get you some better pads (I used Ferodo TS2000) all round, braided lines on the front for increased pedal feel and some good high temp fluid. Most of this was the braided lines at $110 each!

This IS about the bottom of the barrel solution and obviously you are limited with the stock pistons and rotors, but it DOES make a huge difference over stock and is well worth it if you can't spring for the $2k PBR or $4k Harrop setups.

Mine lasted about 40 laps of Sandown (3 hard laps, 1 cool down each time) before they super heated and went bye-bye's on me...not bad for less than $500!

Good Luck!

Jeff.

Yeh tried the Ferodo TS2000 pads, they are a good uprgade over standard.

Hate to say it but if you are looking at a serious upgrade $5,000 is only a starting point.

We've got AP Racing 6 piston front & 4 Piston rear on our CV8 and it is a huge improvement over standard. However in a heavy car like the CV8 it really only gives you braking ability somewhere between a standard WRX and an STI.

Got to remember that we drive big heavy vehicles and it takes a lot of energy to slow them down

after buying slotted discs and upgraded pads found out that was a waste of time as they got way 2 hot within 6 months and warped......

i now own the pbr $2.5k package as mentioned in this thread and it is an awesome difference...... for the street this is all u need imo

Thanks for all the responses guys, info is much appreciated. i might look into the pads, lines and high temp fluid option so i can save some dosh for a half decent exhaust. As i said im not looking for supercar stopping power but i do want it to be better than it is.

Cheers again,

Skell
