:errr: Does anyone know how long the Adelaide plant will be closed over the Christmas break? Just curious because they are running behind at the moment and depending on how long they shut down, production may even get further delayed.

I heard 6 weeks.
Why do you say they are behind?

I doubt 6 weeks. I'm pretty sure they usually close down just before Xmas and start up again mid January. Looking at the way dates fall this year and given how far behind they are on some models my (uneducated?) guess is that they will run up till about Dec 21 or 22 and start up again on Jan 15 or maybe Jan 22 at worst.

I work at Futuris that builds the seating for Holden..and our shut down over Xmas break is from the 21 Dec back on 15 Jan for afternoon shift, tho they are starting day shift back on the 8th jan.We work on just in time system and follow suit with Holdens shut downs .

Holdens building arround 300 + cars a day per shift ,max they pulled on one day this week was 370 .

Hope this helps

Just out of curiosity how much difference is the build rate compared to previous models.

300 is healthy number for Holdens atm avrges bout 300 per shift unles they have Downtime at there plant.. been that number for a couple years. tho the number at our plant are for local and export cars.

370 quite good day form them , tho few weeks thay pulled 108 if i rember :0 = i gets go home early if i choice to :)

Think VT threw VY they building 350 arver day .. i hardly take notice anymore since factory work kinda Zzzz :).

Tho i hardly retain to much on numbers per series think VT was there best numbers.

Even with backlog of orders they need to shut down the plant for scheduled maintanence of all major manufacturing lines, otherwise the machinery could breakdown at an inopportune moment, also this will affect quality issues such as the paint line etc.

Last production day is the 19th of december...

Full production starts on 15th of january..

The shut down is to do alot of maintenance work and this year will be also installing a lot of equipment for the VE ute and wagon. (more equipment will go in during the year)...

In General Assembly (where the finished cars comes off the line) they are scheduled to build 310 cars per shift...

Hey Guys,

I work for Holden's at Elizabeth, on arvos. The plant is closing from the 19th of December, to the 15th of January. with slow start up comencing the week prior i.e. 8th of January.

I ordered my SSV on monday the 6th of Novemeber, and the shut down means it's added another month to my wait, :(

Hope this info helps.

My SS-V,

How long from order placement to when the car starts getting built and is the day they start building it when the build date is taken from or is build date assigned when it is completed? I am soon going to order an SS-V with sunroof and definitely want an 07 build car now it's so late in the year. If I order now will I definitely end up with an 07 build one or should I wait a bit longer?

Hey Wonky.
To be honest you can order anytime soon, it will defiantly be an 07 car as long as it has a sunroof, and isn't Ignition. i.e. being the hero color there is a lot of them floating around in stock with different dealers. I personally wouldn't wait any longer, the longer you take to order the longer it will take for your order to be finalized and built.
I only ordered mine monday this week, and they told me at worst case scenario would be Feb-March.

Hey Gary.
Not exactly, many dealers have stock circulating but most of these cars are standard Holden's, very few with extra's i.e. sunroof's.
Most dealers have many orders with Holden's, all of these orders are white, the dealer can change any detail to these order's 4 weeks prior to the build date, but they have these orders to try help the customer not wait as long.
But as i said these orders are usually of a standard variety.

We are building 600 cars a day, 3000 a week and 12,000 a month. and belive it or not i don't think you would get anything before 07 if you haven't already ordered, for the simple fact Holden's have like 30 odd thousand orders all ready waiting to be filled.

Hope this info has been useful
