I am seeking confirmation / clarification as to whether you get a matching alloy rim and tyre if you tick the full size spare wheel option on the VE SS or is it a matching tyre on a steel rim.

I have had different answers from dealers so if someone who has bought a VE SS (with the standard 18” mags) and optioned for the full size spare could tell me what they got please.

Ordered my VE SS with the full size spare. Definitely got the matching tyre and alloy rim.

Cheers.

The $250.00 Full Size Spare is Alloy. However, I got the optional 20" wheels and the Full Size Spare is the standard alloy wheel. eg 19" Alloy for SSV

I'm curious as to why a full size spare would be an option?

Full size spares are optional as ALL manufacturers are looking at cutting costs, it also shaves weight off the car for the official weight figures also.

Just be gratefull that it's not an MX5 where they hand you a can of no more flats!

Isn't that a staple ingredient of the Ferrari tool kit as well?

Yes well Honda do do things different...I worked in Automotive until 10 weeks ago trust me penny pinching is rampant!

Thank you for the replies. I now know for certain that I will get a matching standard mag wheel and tyre as supplied OE on the car.

Gee I love this forum

Just wondering if the VE SS has directional tyres, if yes, which side of the car is the full size spare set up for? It would obviously only be good for one side if it was a directional tyre. I agree it's a good value option, however it's maybe not as useful as people think.

I'd doubt it very much.

Even if it has, the spare could still be non-directional.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres fitted to the VE SS are non-directional and have an asymmetric tread pattern.

the added $250 for a full size spare does not include a tyre

"Pricing for alloy wheels excludes tyres. " (from web site)

a tyre will add another $450 or so to the cost

Hi All,
The full size spare option does include the tyre and costs all up $250.

and if you have optional HSVi alloys you need to pay more again to get a 5th HSVi wheel, otherwise if u pay the $250 you get the standard alloy the car originally came with.

Because not everyone needs one, so this way you get to decide whether you'd actually use one or not.

Personally, I'll be ordering it, as more often than not when I get in the car to go somewhere, it's because I'm going for a three hour drive up the freeway to Sydney or back, and there's no way I'll do that at 80km/h on a space saver.
