I am still trying to get all my facts straight before I decide on a cam and one question I have is my car only has the HSV vx clubby 4 into 1 headers on ,would these be suitable for a 224/228 112 lsa cam.I have no doubt a set of pacemakers would be preferred but if there is not a major gain I will just keep the HSV's on.My ultimate goal is to have punchier mid and low rpm acceleration top end and ultimate drag times are not crucial .
Cheers Daz.:D

As you say - Pacies would be better, but unless you are really going for the last kw and are planning on doing lots of time at the strip, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the HSV OE set, and as a daily driver they give excellent low-down torque. There is a good gain from cat-back though.

Thanks Seldo I have a twin 2.5" catback with no resonator and opened cats so far the exhaust seems to work well with tune and OTR (12.9@109mph) but didn't really want to add another $1000 on top of cam for new extractors I would rather put the extra towards a tex.

I find the Xforce cat back to be up to the task and sounds sweet.

Dazy the VY2 HSV headers were the pick of the bunch out of all the OE fitted headers. If you look around you may get them pretty cheap too. Like around 200bux.
They are 1.75" inch and a longer 4-1 design than the earlier headers.
I have a set on my SS and with the 222/224 cam, made 274 rwkw at G&D's.

I have a vx clubby with a cam and stock 1 5/8" 4 into 1 headers. I personally think they are the thing holding my car back at the moment and my cam is smaller than the one you are thinking of.
You will still notice a large difference but I think a set of 1.75" 4 into 1's would be the way to go. :driving:

Daz, the headers will work, but as stated, they WILL hold you back, especially with a cam like that.
If you're gonna cam it, then you MUST put some decent extractors on, lest you lose a significant amount of the 'wholesome goodness' that your cam has to offer.
Check Ebay, there are some D/F 1.75 4-1s on it at present.
Cheers and good luck - GET THE PIPES!!!!!!

Just put the cam in with the HSV's you can always change them later , although I think you will be pleasantly suprised at the power you get anyway .
