Hey all..

Today I went out to the car and opened the boot, then closed it. I then went to open the rear left passenger door forgetting the car was locked. To my astonishment the door actually opened about 3 inches and then stopped
and the alarm kicked in. I thought Maybe I did not lock it properly or something and tried it again.. sure enough it did it again. I then tried the right side and I could not open it at all as I would normally expect.

So yeah, just wondering if it's just mine or if some others want to try it out and see if it's all good?

I'm going to call the dealer in the morning.

Cheers

The other day I tried to set the alarm off by not quite closing the boot and locking the car.
Now I cant unlock the car with the remote, I have to use the Key then that rests the remote or somehting. It then works fine untill you lock it again and leave it for a few minutes..

To fix this problem where the car forgets about the remotes (after about 3 minutes) and can only be unlocked with the key, the dealer has to:

1. Remove the fuse from the BCM for 20 mins
2. Replace the fuse - this resets the BCM, it takes 20 mins as the BCM's diodes hold power for a while.
3. The BCM will be now reset and accept a reprogram of the keys.
4. Dont forget to take BOTH keys back as they both need to be reintroduced to the car
5. This will fix the KNOWN problem you are experiencing.

Problem is, the key still locks, so it hasnt 'forgotten' :werd:

I have central locking issues with my VT too. Sometimes (like once a day) the key just won't work so I have to use it manually. Then, half an hour later it works just fine.

Yes, I know what you mean.

The car forgets it, then you have to use the actual key to unlock. The remote then works perfectly to lock and unlock. After about three minutes the remote cannot unlock anymore. Use the key to unlock and magically the remote works to lock it.

Like I said - know problem, they can fix it "permanently" in 20 minutes or so.

Yeah its got me buggered why it does it.. just thought i would get other to try it out.. waiting for the dealer to get back to me. There are a few other things i need them to fix including clutch now i reckon.. anyway thanks for the feedback.

Dosnt seem to make sense to me, it just magically remebers it once you use the key to unlock, even if you drive for an hour, get out, it locks from the remote without having to have anything learnt :werd: this means it hasnt forgotten, its more like ignoring it... In terms of software, to me, it sounds like your fix would work as there is a bug in the software that causes the rolling code to be ignored, as it clearly remebers it (as above).. So reseting it fixes the problem by defaulting the settings that have caused the ignoring issue, and happens to include relearning remotes which would appear to be the fix

I dont know if im right, and am not saying i am, but from my experince in design systems like this, i would be sure that the problem isnt related to it forgetting the remotes, as they still work under certain conditions, therefore, this leaves the software setting and setup as the problem

I think I agree with you - the rolling codes get into a strange situation and need resetting.

All I know is the process I detailed, WILL fix that "problem".

Took mine back to the dealer today and it was fixed within a couple of miutes,
On the left hand side kick panel just under the passenger side dash is a fuse box. All he did was pull out the number 7 fuse, wait 30sec's and presto problem fixed.
He told me it was a know problem but once fixed it shouldn't happen again...
you got to love all these little tricks

Had some issues with my wipers last week. Wipers did three and a half sweeps when ignition turned on. They wouldnt self park either. Played up for two days then magically returned to normal. Strange.

Am I just ignorant are does there seem to be a fair few small electrical problems with the new VE?

Could it be due to new computer software being used?
I had a VZ SV8 and never once had an electrical issue
