Had my first run at WSID tonight and wasn't allthat happy with my result.
Only managed 2 runs as it got rained out
1st run was 14.107 and second was 14.149
R/T - .628
60' - 2.3
MPH - 101.92
My setup :
VT II Clubsport Manual
3.73 diff
mafless mail order tune
OTRCAI
exhaust is basically just the removal of the rear mufflers
I was hoping for a mid 13, is that being too optimistic?
Couple of things - is my reaction time ok?? Also what about my 60' times?
I'll post some vids from the night later on - just wanted to see where I can pick up some time. I'm thinking maybe lower reaction and 60' and that would almost bring me to a 13.5??
Anyways had an absolute blast - can't believe i'd never attended a drag meet as an entrant until now :cussing:
cheers,
Adam

Adam,
With that set up you should have easily got into the 13's,perhaps next time out you might hav better luck.practice makes perfect.

Thanks sonny - I got the OTRCAI air filter worked out :)
btw - absolutely beautiful finish on this bit of kit!
Would you recommend removing the filter on the track?

Bud its all in the 60ft times. Every 0.1 you save on the 60ft time by the end of the 1/4 will be doubled. With practice you should be able to get a flat 2.0 60ft and this will save you near 0.6 off your time getting you a mid 13. Reaction times mean nothing as the timer doesnt start till you leave the line so its just telling you how long it took you to react but doesnt affect your end time.
Practice and you will get your mid 13 with the setup you have. M6 takes some getting used to at the track.

Thanks Jim - I got a big of wheelspin off the line, which is more than likely due to me being a little overzealous :D
What sort of revs do you recommend off the line? I tried 4k and that ended in wheelspin, maybe 2.5?

heh - so long as it's only small stuff flying in :lmao:

Your 101MPH indicates it should be capable of running a mid to low 13. Looking at your time slip indicates your 60 foot being 2.3. If you can ptactice your launching and get that down to 2.0 or 2.1 you will see a mid 13 second pass. Also let your tyres down to 20psi, this will help with traction offf the line a bit.
JB
Mate at least you got to the finish line first in that race!! Reeled the other car in at the 330 and off! As others have said mate its all in the 60 footer.. Have fun and good luck:headbang:

Yeah was looking at timeslips on here and noticed that 101mph was low to mid 13s and that's a time i'd be seriously happy with for my mods. With re to the tyres - with street tyres, does that actually help?

haha - the other car was a VS maloo - was sure he had it on NOS too ... but yes seeing him get the jump and then reeling him in was a nice feeling :headbang: I think more runs would have equated to a better 60' by the end of the night.
ok here's the vid of my 2 runs in order

Adam,
we found if you use the drop's you get the drop in time,
drop the the tyre pressure to around 20psi,
drop your start RPM to around 3000 to prevent hurting your clutch
drop the clutch
drop your max rpm gear change to around 5500, when you actually get around to changing you will be at the 6000 anyway,
Then you will get a drop in ET's
Good luck see you out there wednesday.

A couple of people have mentioned letting down the tyres - does that make a difference on street tyres?
With re to what revs to take off at and on changes. I'd like to say I dropped it at 4k and changed at 5.5 or 6k, but to be honest, most of it was seat of the pants feeling.
Do you stare at the tacho and use peripheral vision for the lights or vice versa and as for changing gears, a quick glance maybe? First time out, it felt as though everything happened so fast that there wasn't time for anything but holding on and banging through the gears.
cheers for the help everyone,
Adam
