Hi Guys,

When checking my fluid levels this morning, I noticed my power steering fluid level had dropped. I topped it up when I got it, half way between cold min and hot max (when the car was cold) now when checking this morning it was nearly back to cold min. I think I over filled it a little this moring, probably 3/4 between cold min and hot max. The thing that has me confused is as far as I can see it's not leaked, garage is spotless, and parking spot at work is also clean. Where did it go? Any ideas?

Get underneath the car and shake the steering rack boots and see if they sound like there's fluid inside. It could be leaking into the boots.

leaking into the boots is common

Its better to wear thongs,:booze: then you can wash your feet under a tap without having to remove your boots,

Ps dont stand so close to the trough.

Forgive me ignorance, but is it a bad thing if it is leaking into the boots?

Check all the hose clamps on the lines that run to your pump. My fluid level dropped to almost empty and it never left a spot of oil on the ground. Turned out to be one loose clamp. Was a prick to get to aswell.

Spot on Souljah. The hose clamp in question faces the inner gaurd. You will need a 6mm small ring/open end spanner to tighten it. Best bet is to spin it around and retighten with 1/4 inch drive socket and ratchet. Check the ones on the pump and resevoir as well

maybe that could have been disasterous if it had come right off, Dunno

I had a VY 1 Tonner using fluid and could find no visible leak but after a book service dealer told me it was a loose hose clamp and just recently VZ wagon was dropping fluid also and I found it to be a loose hose clamp. On both occassions apart from visible fluid drop in the reservoir I could find no indications of fluid loss at the hose connections but was able to tighten clamp with screwdriver

Yep. A tiny ratchet and socket will be the easiest way of dealing with it.
