I just saw a link to this thread posted on another forum. (http://warsug.info/viewtopic.php?t=1572]http://warsug.info/viewtopic.php?t=1572)
So they cant use V8's but a Turbo 6 is ok???? :fewl:
About 5 years ago the WA Police stopped using V8s as there were a few incidents involving Police cars and they were deemed too dangerous. Since then they have been using mainly N/A V6 Commodores but perhaps with the release of VE they may be switching back to mainly Falcons. I imagine this is mainly to do with the fleet discounting (or lack of) with VE as Ford will be dicsounting the BF to buggery just to survive. I wonder how long till they start crashing the T's and they get banned as well.
A least the Ford boys will be happy as they will be able to get their hands on cheap XR6T's at the auctions in a few years.

I got one of the last ones :driving:
For memory the cops banned them because of the kickdown issue and the 15inch tyre/wheel package couldnt handle it
But as far as the XR6T goes i'll be keeping my eye on the auctions to see what they go for:woot:

Good old Queensland - the Highway Patrol have XR8s and SSs, not to mention Monaros.
The pollies have switched to six cylinders and a lot of the fat cats in the public service have been demoted to fours & sixes in the light of the Q Fleet fubar with acres and acres of unsold V8 govt cars when petrol prices went up.

Mate with your driving history, he'd just have to get out of his stalled ford, walk 5 metres to the footpath and arrest you. Then they'd arrange the towies to dismount your car from the pavement and some suckers front fence :p

I heard a couple of weeks ago from my copper mate that they are using XR6T's on the country roads. I thought this was weird. Now i'm really needing to mod the gen III now :yahoo: ... Just kidding, i have more brains.
I wonder if our coppers will turn to the dark side & use the VE's. He hasn't heard anything about this so far.

I couldn't care less what the cops drive as long as they don't bother me. :)

Yep was a shame when they done away with 8's over here.
I think about 3 or 4 cops died in them when the 5.7l first come out.
And then prices went up.
Supply and demand.
That's probably explains all the abandoned chases here now too.
Police cant keep up.
How they gonna get Phoenix's VE SS? he he
Seen a few SV6 highway patrol cars.
Anyone know how effective they've been with them.

SA as well, highway patrol use SS's or V8 Exec's, would love a V8 exec the ulimate sleeper.
QLD Police have handed in the Monaros and replaced them with SS's (highway patrol).
They normally replace cars at about 75,000km.
You will see VE's once all the Q Fleet VZ's are gone. :yahoo:

We use XR6T's here as traffic cars (at the moment) and they go well. Most people in the territory (who attempt to run from cops) drive beat up 6 cylinder commodores and falcons. XR6T is plenty fast enough to catch them.
Modded GEN3 will leave them for dead as the fords tend to go a bit slow (acceleration wise) after the 200km/h mark.
