The next Winton Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday December 17th 2006.

The usual format applies:

Cost:
Is $25 per driver and $25 per passenger

Programme:
Normally be there by 8.00 for scrutineering, but this can take some time.
Drivers Briefing at around 9.00 - 9.30
Driver only on track for 30 minutes sighting laps, then
Driver with passenger for 30 minutes, then
Driver only on track for 30 minutes, then
Driver with passenger for 30 minutes, then
Driver only on track for 30 minutes, and so on all day until about 4.30

Requirements:
Bring your car, an Australian Standard Approved helmet, the helmet can be either open or closed face, fire proof clothes that cover you from neck to ankle to wrist (cotton or wool clothes are good). Runners are not the preferred footwear, Blundstones boots (or similar) or any leather type shoe is preferable

Make sure your car has no oil/coolant leaks, fitted seat belts, battery is secure, wheels nuts are tights, no loose items in the car or boot.

The Car does not have to be registered, but has to road/race worthy. There are normally no checks done of lights except for brake lights except if it is an overcast, rainy day, then there may be checks for lights as well as wipers.

And very importantly, bring a smart, alert attitude, coz there is some very fast cars out there, whilst it is not a race meeting, some people bring race cars and the onus is on them to behave appropriately around first timers.

Food and drinks are available through a canteen

Also we will be less tolerant of people who breach the rules this time, due to some lard-heads last time - sorry everyone!

Can't recommend this day highly enough guys!! :yahoo: Last Dec I took an Evo 8 to Winton for the fun day and had an absolute blast - best fun you can have with your clothes on ;)
Sorry I didnt make the Jan or July ones Big Trev - haven't had a car I trusted to stay in one piece :hmmm: And my new SS is still going to be a little too new to flog senseless for this one but I might head down and spectate! Is the warning down the bottom of your post related to a certain Monaro incident I heard about???

Whoops, read the thread about the Monaro. Maybe the subie that went off??? A mate of mine in a black Skyline was there and told me about a few of the incidents.

I heard that there were a few Drift enthusiasts that had confused the fun days with drift days.

There was one up at Friday’s practise day who lasted a few corners before being asked to leave.

Yes the Monaro was one incident, followed quickly by a Subaru and far too many thought it was a race track and/or a drift track.

My car won't be there this time so I will be spending a lot more time watching closely. The officials have already been briefed.

Hi Big Trev,

I am wondering where the line is drawn regarding driving? You mention that there are some very fast cars there and to be aware. But then you are not allowed to race. By this do you just mean versus other people? I cant see the point in a fun day if you cant get some speed up and hit some corners, maybe getting a little powerslide going?? Is that ok. Bit confused.

If you could clear it up that would be great. thanks

Yes you can drive fast, but you must slow your vehicle in time to take corners safely without bullying other people out of the way.

If you are seen to be racing another car you will be warned, and if you repeat it then you will be removed from the track.

If you powerslide then you will be warned and if repeated removed from the track. There are officials all the way around the track in radio communication.

I have a car that I have competed in, I (and my son) can drive around on a fun day, get to 195+km/h, not powerslide into corners, not run people off the track into corners, so I reckon everyone else can too.

It is for the enjoyment of everyone (including me as the Organiser), I will not have people being intimidated.

Sounds fair. :)

Quick question, if i go as a driver am I able to ride as a passenger in someone else's car? Or do i have to pay $50 if i want to do that?

Correct me if I'm wrong Big Trev, but I think you can drive the track or ride for the one fee of $25. At least we were when I was there last....
