Hi,

I had an edit done at Sam’s Performance some time back, I had a mafless tune and got 215rwkw with 4-1 headers and twin 2.5inch exhaust system.

I then had an OTRCAI fitted at Maranaros and did 225rwkw on his dyno. After this I fitted a ported throttle body so Im hoping for a few extra rwkw to get close to 230rwkw.

A friend of mine very very similar car, almost identical mods (he doesn’t have the ported throttle body) and we both have 75,000km claims that he got 260rwkw with the same mods but his car was tuned at Castle Hill exhaust. I actually contacted his tuner who confirmed this and believes my output is low considering the mods. He reckons he should pull another 20rwkw out of my tune assuming I pull 225-230rwkw on his dyno.

What is going on here….

1. Is my tune at Sams performance a conservative tune
2. Is this guy pulling my leg claiming he can tune to get 260rwkw
3. What is the real rwkw number to expect with these mods? What is the norm.

Yours is a more realistic rwkw figure.

260rwkw's with boltons? I don't think so. Must be a happy dyno.

Take your car to Castle Hill and see if your still getting 225-230 rwkw. If so, then let Castle Hill Exhaust have a go. But you'll probably find the dyno there will show you already have 260rwkw by its standards.

You havent had it retuned for the new OTRCAI

My car is not tuned by Castle Hill or been on there dyno but they definately have the runs on the board so I fail to understand how people continue to pick the crap out of their dyno numbers , as for bolt on 260rwkw it has been done many times before on a DD dyno , don't forget Sams dyno is a Dynolog so your not comparing apples to apples , go and see Dale at Castle Hill and get a power run and make up your own mind .

No one post anything offensive till I get back from lunch, this thread should degenerate into a who's d!ck is biggest bun fight quite well :goodtime: :stick:

Take your cars to the track, run them down the quater. Get you time slips and compare MPH & Time. That will give you more accurate results than any dyno!!!!

All that I can see is that this particular thread will shortly end in tears. Pitting sponsors against one another isn't too clever. :hmmm:

Before your mate said he had Xrwkw, were you happy with yours? If so, then why worry?

It has been said, different dynos/weather/atmospheric conditions/fuel/temperature all contribute to different figures.

Why don't you back-to-back the two cars on the one dyno, at the one time if it concerns you so much?

Cheers,

Macca

Better still, back to back them on the track........

I would settle for 1rwkw, so long as it's quick.....

Get to the Track, compare you MPH, as long as you are within 2mph, your making the 'same' power... Dyno's of diffrent makes, brands and operators are well known to give diffrent results

260rwkw from bolt on gen3:lmao:

Dee-Jay's car in bolt on form ran numbers in excess of this on numerous different dynos. It can and has been done.

You also might find that these 260rwkw bolt on cars run in to the mid teens in mph as well. (I think stripped they have even run 120+)

It's sure not the "norm" but it is not a pipe dream like it once was.

i was waiting for you to come down on saturday morning for the power run like we discussed on the phone last week, but no show, if you had of told me you were not going to make it to your booking i would have gone straight to the track....

if you made 225 on sonnys dyno you will go around 240kw on ours,
its funny when everyone thought uncles figures were wrong and he went and put it on another dyno and it was with in 1kw... so maybe you should ring dyno dynamics and tell them there dynos read high. they will just laugh at you!!
then again JGC only makes about 280kw and only runs 119.5mph...

Only if the same person drives them exactly the same way...

on a mainline as well!! thats a good effort there... i know from exprience that would be well over 270rwkw on a DD

1.Edit/tuning is edit/tuning regardless of brand.
2.Dynos vary,
3.Tuner techniques vary.
4.Water is wet.

None of this means one is better/ more or less conservative than the other, Facts of life....MOVE ON !

Dyno numbers are only really of any meaning if you take the same car to the same dyno and compare the difference if & when a modification is done.

My 2 cents worth.

Yeah exactly. So even if Erik's tune was an aggresive one, you could make it a bit more conservative and still be 260rwkw on a DD, like mine and many more around. Not saying its the norm, but definately doable.

your car would make a little more on our dyno now as i would be able to hold it down a little better now its not in the ground, we now have shoot_81 mode for forced V8's as well now which we didnt when yours was run up

REDVYIISS's car is also a good example as well :)

I presume this is my car that this thread is about. I have not instigated this thread apart from telling VTGEN 3 what power my car made and who tuned it.

I dont believe in comparing shops or tuners, all I can say in that I am happy with the figures my car made thanks to Dale at CHE, but I am extremely happy with the customer support Dave and Dale have offered me since they first had my car.

I would prefer solid support behind a shops mods than massive figures that they will not stand behind. At the end of the day as long as we are happy with our cars does it really matter what HP they make on different dynos ?

A mate of mine had his ute modded by Sams, he is happy. I had mine done by CHE, I am happy, end of story

I think thats a great wrap up to this thread. Im going to close this thread before it gets into a My tuner is better than your tuner thread. If you want more information on this, start doing a search, dyno comparrision have been done to death. If you STILL want more information, speak to Mr Dyno himself, awddynotodd.
