I have a vz ss ute, and with all utes as the powers goes up, the rear end starts to get even more out of hand:woot:, so before i start on a blower i thought i would have wider rear i.e mini tub or rolled, but am finding it hard to get any info on who does it and where is best! As i am in Newcastle up and around this area would be best, or if anyone has any link or pic's to help, that would be great!

Cheers All

give street neat welding a call as i was looking into it as i had a set of 20's with 275/30/20 and i would of had to pump the guards or extend the tubs which is possible as you can go 100mm before the shocks get in the way

Dont forget about Mark's car.

Its mini-tubbed too - to fit 315's under it

If you look past the fuel system (if you can), you can see the shocks/struts have been relocated to fit insanely fat rubber.
Awesome stuff

Well atleast it still has about as much boot space as a Monaro now.

APS Frankston have done quite a few bloody impressive tubs. Got it down to a fine art I believe and cars from many states.

Fellas,on a commodore you need a rear rim with around a 5.5" backspace. My 19 x 8.5 inch lenso wheels have 140mm backspace with a 3"dish and im running 275/30/19. The only mods i had to do was roll the rear guards, trim the top corners of the rear bar and a touch of the plastic wheel tub liners as it rubbed on hard launches. It doesnt rub anywhere anymore. If i was looking at mini tubs 295s would be a minimum if the correct wheel offset was selected, cheers Steve.

I need to tub my VZ Maloo. As I'm not in Aus, I wondered if anyone knows if there have been articles in any mags with pictures of the mod'. I just need to know the pros and cons before I get the saw out.

Also, someone might know if there is a company over there that could pre fab it for me?

One more thing. Rolling the rear arch appears to be difficult with the number of layers of sheetmetal in that area. What is the best way to do it. I have heard that attempting to roll can ripple the outer panel?

Thanks for any help or advice I can get.

hello there fello english man.

With regards to tubs there was a write up a mag but i think i was on a sedan, will have a look through the old mags at home to see if i can find it and get a PDF sorted.
I have the guards rolled last week on my vz ute, and your right the metal is tuffer on the ute, but the guy which did it for me used a heat gun to warm the paint up not to crack it, a rubber hammer and a gaurd roller. there was no marks at all on the outside of the guards with one very small crack on the underside of the arch, but this was put right with a little paint just to stop water getting under the paint.
what size rubber are you thinking about putting in the rear? reason i ask is because as you can see i started this thread years ago and didn't find the information i was looking for.
with the correct size wheel and most of all offset, you can get away with 275-285 on rear.
try this tool http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp?item=Wheel-Tire%20size%20comparer&showRim1=1&showTire1=1&sw1=235&ar1=40&bd1=18&rd1=18&rw1=8.0&et1=48&showRim2=1&showTire2=1&sw2=305&ar2=30&bd2=19&rd2=19&rw2=10.0&et2=15&text1=&text2==
it lets you have a play with size offset etc, but if your looking at big bling or 285+ rubber then tubs are the way to go.
hope this helps, oh and where abouts in UK are yeah from? i am from Doncaster Sheffeild area but been in oz for years now

oh just thought of this, it might help Team proUTES ~ Street, Show & Go ~ (http://www.proutes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15974) & http://tubularsuspensionsystems.com/gallery/commodores/Street_Machine_VUfor_U/enlfr.htm?13
