Can anyone who has had first hand experience with Koni shocks n struts please give some feedback. I am deciding on whether or not to purchase a set for my SS. (PS the SS is going to be lowered)
thanks

Massive improvement over Monroes or standard. When you lower the car especially you really need a good set of shocks to help get the comfort factor and overall smoothness back.
Two thumbs up for koni's from me :headbang:

Konis are apparently very good but dear. If you don't want to pay as much then KYBs are a good compromise for a short bodied shock. I have them on mine all round - did it when it was lowered. The ride is now not quite as harsh as it was with FE2 even though it is lowered.

Hi,
Have used Monroe, Pedders Sports Rider and finally got Koni adjustables in the Calais, lowered with the 19's the ride is so much better then before, they are expensive but worth it if you do it right the 1st time.

They are very good but the only down side is the adjustment as it only changes rebound.
If I had the choice i would go with bilstein (mine were fitted to the car when i got it).
The KYB AGX's are ment to be pretty good and they are a bit cheaper than the koni's.

Care to elaborate?
Just to add to this in case you are reffering to the adjustment. From the Top Performance web site.
If for instance, after many thousands of kilometers, the suspension has softened and the damping effect of the shock absorber has diminished, the rebound damping forces of the KONI shock absorbers can be adjusted.
This will stiffen the damper in rebound at lower piston velocity (which can be noticed manually).
At the same time, spring (9) is compressed further, resulting in increased rebound damping at higher piston velocities.
NOTE:
Adjusting half a turn from minimum position will increase rebound forces by 10 to 15%.
Adjusting two half turns will add 25 to 30%.
Adjusting three half turns will add approx. 50%.
Adjusting four half turns will add 75 to 80% to the rebound forces.
The fifth half turn (if any) will increase rebound forces up to 90 - 100%.
KONI dampers (as prescribed for normal street use) are not adjustable in bump. Bump forces are preset by KONI and are not (usually) subject to wear.

Would you be able to explain that in lamen's terms?

i would of loved to go for koni's when i lowered my car but SO DEAR ! i went with the cheaper BOGE shocks, so far they are awsome very happy with them. ride is extremely smooth for a lowered car. unfotunately not adjustable though, the ones i got anyway.

OK let's try and clear this up.
Now two people have replyed to my post that "Koni's only have adjustment for rebound" saying that it is bullshit.
Now as it says on the importers website (http://www.toperformance.com.au/tech_fs.html)

As well as a few conversations i have had with diffrent suspension shops is what has lead me to say this.
Now if anyone has infomation that prove's me wrong i would be very happy to hear it, as I own a set of these shocks myself. The only way i have heard to increase the Bump rate is to have the shocks revalved.
Hope this clears this up a bit and in no way am i saying koni's are crap, they are a very good shock but they simply do not have any adjustment for anything other than rebound.

I have the Koni spo.d.a. although they are not truely fully double adjustable, the graph showed the bump and rebound change at a graduated rate, with a turn of the top adjuster.
Unlike the Spax brand which have sepperate adjustment for both..
I love them(the Koni's) but they could do with more adustment on rebound for dragracing.

I've got a set of Koni double adjustable { bump/rebound} in my R8 both front and rears.

Sorry didn't know you spent the big money :) I was just working on the assumption that he was looking at normal yellows.
How much more did it cost for the double adjust? I would really like some bump adjust on mine.

I am considering boge shocks for my car atm. Do you know what model boge shock they are and what price you picked them up for? Did you get them through gsa?

I have Koni Yellow inside boot adjustable on the rear of my car. They are ones that are intended for the calibra so are a bit softer than the usual commodore ones. I leave them on the softest setting when racing and set them harder if i need the car to steer a bit better.
